My friends and me were warmly welcomed by the great Lady Tina who has shared with a lot of nice memories. All the used ingredients were high quality and very well prepared. Definitely, it's a place you need to try.

Not fancy, but with roots in the tradition. Here you will have the true taste of the regional food and the warmth of old restaurants. An endangered type of restaurants in Italy unfortunately!

This is the 2nd time we've eaten here. the first was 12 years ago, with our family, and the owner, Tina, - remembered us! she found a photo we took with her from 2004 that she had saved. they serve authentic local dishes, hand made pastas, grilled bruschetta - simple and well prepared food in a warm family restaurant.

This unassuming trattoria within Viterbo's city walls has a wealth of flavors which unparalleled in virtually all of Roman trattorias. To repeated questions on where she gets her spectacular ingredients, including impossible to find wild fennel pollen and country herbs, the charming owner simply responds "my sister's garden, of course." Trattoria Porta Romana's strength is its foraged ingredients. Even the... More

It was only four days into our study abroad trip in Italy. It was a cold night, raining, and after a spending the last hour exploring the city of Viterbo we became understandably hungry. After some deliberation between ourselves we decided to follow a yellow neon sign, in hopes of finding a restaurant that we had been told about. When... More

I went in not exactly knowing what to expect, especially since I know very little Italian. Not only did I notice right away that the prices were extremely fair, but also, Tina, the owner could tell we were having trouble reading the menu, so she came over and translated for us. She was very sweet and accommodating, but also the... More

Porta Romana is a terrific restaurant. Mamma Tina (owner) is a wonderful hostess and the food is amazing. I have visited multiple times. This is a truly authentic experience and a "must-do" when in Viterbo. Please say "Ciao" to Mamma for me when you visit. Buone Feste e Happy Holiday! Very Happy Visitor from Iowa

Tina, the owner and host, was tremendous. So helpful, friendly, and truly welcoming. The menus are handwritten and is a great indication of this personal experience. True basic, delicious, Italian food at it's best. A bit hard to find, but we'll woth the effort.
