In a backstreet of the old town district of Sanremo there is an absolute hidden gem, which is an absolute must for any lover of gastronomy! It's a long established, and very highly regarded, family-run restaurant called Taverna AL 29. Entering the establishment is like walking into someone's home. (The first time I was taken there, I was sure my... More

We came to Taverna Al 29 strictly based on reviews. We tend to like to dine by the sea but the reviews were so outstanding we decided to go with it. I wish there was a bigger word for "experience" because I would undoubtedly use it. From the moment we arrived, (we were greeted on the street) we were treated... More

I would count our visit to Taverna Al 29 as one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. And "experience" really is the word. From the moment we entered with a shake of the hand and warm welcome from the owner, almost everything was perfect. If you could bottle what it means to be the perfect host, this... More

We visit the Taverna al 29 every time we are in San Remo. The restaurant is small and intimate. The food is typical Ligurian 'peasant' food. The menu explains the history of the dishes, and how they use ingredients that the historical poor of Liguria could easily obtain, like fish, rabbit and herbs from the countryside. The food and wine are... More

As we arrived last Monday at the Taverna, a man, clearly the owner, stood telefoning outside but took the time to smile and to shake our hand. Once inside, a younger man approached us and had us choose a table. We sat and were offered an 'apero' which set of a chain of very interesting dishes, very tasteful and the... More

Very nice and generous people run this place. The food is of local type and is very good. Cozy atmosphere in this rather small restaurant. Seem to be freqently visited by lokal italians. You know what they say , trust the natives !!

We arrived a few minutes before opening time but were welcomed in and invited to take a seat and have a drink. Spent a fabulous evening here, the food is very good ad the service is great. A super friendly host really lifted the evening to make it memorable. The ambiance and surroundings are lovely, small place but plenty of... More

This was our second visit here. The restaurant is intimate and quiet. The host/owner is friendly and extremely serviceminded in a calm, quiet manner. The menu is all local, homemade food, and so is some of the wine and digestivi. We had the Balchau, fish, pasta and rabbit. Just wonderful! Everything!

What a great small family run place. The lady of the house is the cook and the owner is your host for the evening. The food is very good and all with local fresh produce. The host is a great and very hospitable man who really enjoys the company in his little restaurant. Make sure to make a reservation and... More

This place was rated highly on trip advisor so we decided to come here. From first walking into the place we were impressed. Service was very welcoming and food was fantastic. The owner himself even stopped at our table to help with translation and suggestions. The food is authentic and delicious I'm still thinking about the gnocchi I ordered. Be... More
