We recently visited Sauze d’Oulx on a half board basis but decided to try somewhere else for dinner one night. We hadn’t booked Sugo’s but are so glad we waiting for a table as it was SO worth it! The interior is simple but works well, especially for group meals. We ordered a porcini and truffle pasta dish for 2 people and were surprised when they bought out the whole dish for us to serve ourselves. Very generous portions and quick and attentive service. The wine also very cheap! We wish we had eaten more than once here!! Thank you Sugo’s

We chose this restaurant as we were looking to enjoy some pasta dishes. As other reviews have mentioned, all dishes must be ordered for two people, this isn’t made obvious and we like others were informed by the waiter when ordering. After choosing again ensuring we could pair up on the same choice we ordered. The prices on the menu are per person, so ultimately we had two bowls of Tagliatelle for a mere €60. I can completely understand why it’s done this way, the chef only has to cook two dishes per table of four and the owner can sell two bowls of pasta for €60. (see pics) Lovely building, decor and ambiance, I just wish the owner put customer satisfaction before profit.

Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and setting. Helpful and engaging staff. It was also really good value for money, the pasta was clearly freshly made that day with delicious sauces and the starter (bruschetta) is cut in to 8 pieces so although we had between two, you could have between four!

Were very excited to go to this restaurant as they had a wide variety of pasta dishes including vegetarian options. However when we came to order we were told you can only only pasta dishes in quantities of 2. Meaning we could only choose one dish between 2. Apparently the portions are supposed to be large, but they weren't particularly. The pasta was nice but really nothing special and could have easily be made at home. Considering the ingredients in the dish and that they only make 1 dish between 2, I don't really understand why the prices were so high... €26 for '2' portions... I raised with the manager that they should pre-warn guests that you could only choose 1 between 2 and he said that the made is perfectly clear on the menu. However the 5 other parties that came into the restaurant also didn't realise this and the manager had to explain. Fine if they want to offer a 'sharing experience' but make it clear and lower your prices.

Quite a strange place. All pasta dishes are priced per person on the menu but have to be ordered as a minimum double portion, no single portions offered. I still haven’t really worked out why. We ordered three different pasta mains and, while there was nothing wrong with them, they were fairly plain and absolutely nothing that you couldn’t very easily make at home. Service was very quick, though it was very quiet when we ordered. The plates were reminiscent of something you’d get a TV dinner in.

Menu consists of stale bruschetta and pasta, in fact there’s more wine then there is food. The pasta is tasteless and is served in a pot in which you have to share with two people. Had to ask where our starter was 2 times to no avail. Finally comes out and the bread is stale with cold prosciutto. We assumed that the pasta would improve our experience. In which took an hour and they forgot one of the pastas we ordered. Very disorganised to say the least table was very cramped with no real place to actually put food. In fact to actually fit all the food on the table we had to move glasses onto the floor. The Bolognese was cold and tasteless. We tried the boar pasta and was the only half edible food on the table. After asking twice where the carbonara was we finally received what I like to call “the worst carbonara I have ever eaten”. Had no taste and went cold after two minutes. Waited 45 minutes for the bill to no avail so we left 100 euros on the table and called it a night. Please don’t go here.

I just thought a pasta house in Italy would have fresh pasta, better Carpaccio and home made desserts(they had none of these, even the house white was average at best). They have a ridiculous policy of sharing dishes, which just come in the saucepan. We were a party of 4 and didn't really want just 2 dishes. Over all everything was just so average, You can do the pasta out of a pack at home

This should’ve been our family holiday food high as we are massive pasta lovers, but it turned out to be a food low. There is no denying that the quality of pasta is good. It’s just the sauce and everything else to go with it that is average and the dining experience. It is a small restaurant that is laid out to maximise its capacity, so if you want space, this is not a place for you. It is also not a family with children under 10 friendly place. All dishes have to be ordered in double quantities, for two adults and four children we had to order six adult portions, that was such a lot of food as we had a 7 and 4 year old with us, who only eat small amounts, we did try our best but we still left some pasta which was a waste and no offer to box it up as a take home was given, considering the price we probably wasted £15 of food. The food was served not overly warm so by the end of it we were eating cold pasta. It wasn’t the kind of atmosphere where you felt comfortable enough to ask them to warm it up either, even though it is served in a pan. The price on the menu is for per person , remember that you have to order it twice so for a normal spaghetti Bolognese which was very plain testing it was about £30, the 4 cheese pasta had a very over powering taste, highly recommend the carbonara though. I was so excited to eat here, but I can say it was not worth the hype, just about everywhere else we’ve eaten, the pasta dishes have been just as good. I left feeling completely underwhelmed, but on the upside, my husband said it made him appreciate my cooking more. This place is probably better for couples or those who have a more exotic pallet. You must book in advance, I found email the best.

The menu is poor, the food is poor, the service chaotic at best, the tables cramped. On arriving we were dissapointed to see the menu, only bruschetta or local ham and cheese to start, only pasta dishes to share as a main. The bruschetta was equivalent to cheese on stale toast with chopped ham on top. The pasta caused issues as both everyone wants to share, when it arrived in 10 minute intervals between each pasta, it was insipid poorly presented. THE SERVICE WAS ABSOLUTE CHAOS. I have travelled to Italy twice a year for 10 years and never had such poor experience. There are many more better restaurants in Sauze.

I probably should have given another star. But a few things were missing. Firstly menu is too big to cater for perfect dishes!! My pasta dish was a bland pesto pasta and also a little too ál dente.. The brushetta to start was beautiful and other pasta dishes were good or better than the pesto.. They said the make dishes to authentic recipe but don't do an authentic carbonara! Nice sfriendly staff and nice restaurant

Booking here was tricky - the owner (I presume) has to do it! Booked face to face for the following evening as it was fully booked & busy. Walked in next day, told the owner we had a reservation & it looked like it was a problem, but he took us downstairs to our table in what looked like disgust. After a while, a waitress asked if we wanted a drink & when we said yes, again it looked like a problem but she took our order for drinks & shortly a friendly waiter brought them out but he couldn’t take our food order. The owner came to take it & informed us that all dishes were a minimum of 2 portions, which we both thought was strange. We placed our order & another waitress came back with our food, virtually throwing it at us! No niceties or offer of anything else but also chucked some Parmesan cheese on the table. The food was nice & plentiful but we weren’t asked at any point if all was well. At the end, the dishes were cleared, again with no questions about our meal or any niceties. Shortly after that, the waitress came back & snatched the Parmesan cheese off the table & disappeared before we could ask for the bill. We tried to gain someone’s attention but were unsuccessful, so walked upstairs to pay. Again, we had to wait for & pay the owner & again no questions if all was well. We paid our bill & left. For the first time ever, I left no tip & it wasn’t questioned nor did he seem surprised. Will not go again.

AWFUL! Don’t go, waited 1.5 hours for a cold carbonara pasta and it was awful I could make better myself. Portions was small and customer service was the cherry on top which made it all worse. Me and my partner complained and the staff said it’s only the two of us ‘1 bad table doesn’t matter’ so he didn’t care whatsoever. Didn’t even have salt or butter in the restaurant. Go somewhere else much much better places to go in Sauze

We had the bruschetta to start, can't remember the name but it had cheese and rosemary and was delicious. Unless you are a big eater get one between two. Then followed by the pasta Bruccio which was equally delicious. Pasta is served in portions for two people, not a problem for us. Huge portions too. The head honcho knows his wines and took the time to explain the different Barbera's - Asti and Alba (I prefer the former) which was great as Piedmont wins are not common in UK supermarkets. Service was excellent, restaurant cosy and relaxed. Very reasonable too. I would definitely go again if we return to Sauze. Do go but you may need to book ahead - the day before should be fine.

What a lovely place we found here. We went one night, and booked for the following night too! You can choose from a huge range of sharing bruschetta and then pick from all the lovely pasta too. We chose it because we are a family of a vegan, a vegetarian and a meat eater. This restaurant catered for all of us really well. We asked them to tweak one of the pasta meals to remove the fish which they did so happily. The guy serving (we presume the owner) was very friendly and welcoming. You must visit if you're staying in Sauze d'Oulx.

Having visited Sugo's last year I insisted to friends new to the resport that we visited and they loved the place too. Its a great concept - Pasta and Bruschetta, however there are 12-15 choices of each to choose from. The food is tasty, well presented and good value for money. Pasta portions are for two and the owner / manager is welcoming and a great host. We visited twice during our four day trip - Highly Recommended!!
