About
A brand new restaurant in Ponza, Gamberi e Capperi is located in the terrace and the garden of the boutique hotel Piccolo Hotel Luisa, founded in 1950 by Luisa Mazzella and his son Domenico Musco. When family Musco met with Luigi Nasti a magical idea come out and the restaurant was born, after a complete restyling of the former kitchen and public areas of the hotel. The result is outstanding, in terms of quality of the menu and the beauty of the place with a plus in the perfect service.

I had the best night ever! Fist of all, the terrace is super cool, and relaxing. As soon as I walked in, Luisa was very kind and with a big warm smile took us to the table. I felt straight away in a cosy, and familiar place. The food was excellent, absolutely perfect! We stayed 5 days on the island, and only at gamberi & Capperi we found something different in the menu, the other restaurants we visited offered all the same things. Trying all this amazing fresh seafood cooked with such particular ingredients, was an explosion of flavours in our mouths. Service was impeccable as well, from the chef (that prepared most of the dishes in front of us with a very impressive explanation of what we were going to eat), to all the waiting staff. Another difference with the rest of the island is that in this restaurant they all speak English.... Finally!!!!!! Highly recommended

Only a few minutes walk up the hill away from the bussling noisy port to a quiet escape, the open air restaurant had a comfortable almost breeze in spite of the hot July weather. Having eaten authentic Italian food in Italy on regular annual visits over a period of four decades, my food radar is tuned for traditional Italian cuisine that incorporates a bit of modern sophistication and imagination. This meal was perhaps the most elegantly presented I can remember having eaten in Italy. All the choices were as tasty as they looked. The host Luisa is the granddaughter of the woman for whom the small Piccolo Hotel Luisa is named where this venue is located, and she has modernized not only the hotel itself but this food experience within it as well. The dream of the chef Luigi Nasti to open his own venue with his personal food sense was realized with her help only two years ago but this was our first visit. We saw him doing some table final dish finishing with heat, and an innovative tiramisu prepared at the table, for other guests. Impressive. A special place on a special island. Go for it. It is worth the splurge.

If you go to Ponza you must have a dinner at Gamberi & Capperi. The food is spectacular. Standard plates (as “cacio e pepe”) are revisited with innovative pairings, mixing in a tasty and delicious way different ingredients that you would have never put together. The chef is superlative and some dishes (prawns and tiramisù, for instance) are directly cooked from him in front of you. Prices are balanced and the atmosphere is very cool and relaxing. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Ponza.

Extremely ostentatious and prententious. Pleasant environment with however no view whatsoever. Great efforts to create well presented dishes, which are refined in look but mediocre then in taste. Panicked staff. Priced at the same levels of its most iconic rivals on the island, it doesn't, inspite of all the attempts, achieve more than a bronze medal. We wouldn't go back.

When cooking becomes art. I missed last year due to study problems. After university, my friends and I decided to stay on the island. For them it was the first time and obviously I took them to my trusted place… Shrimps and Capers. Welcoming us is chef Luigi Nasti, who welcomes us back with open arms with great pleasure. Let's go straight with 5 tasting menus which include: their mouse-bouche; a selection of raw dishes (local prawns and scampi and swordfish tartare in a ceramic-covered tin box: Absurd!); marinated anchovies with buffalo mozzarella; some buttons stuffed with provolone and chanterelles with blue lobster ragout; swordfish wellington that made me fall in love and to conclude his fantastic tiramisu. Even if many think that a tasting menu doesn't fill you up, the courses were balanced, to give you the opportunity to taste all the cuisine and philosophy of chef Luigi Nasti. The price perfectly reflects the quality of the products. As for the staff, kind and courteous waiters, present and not pressured, always ready to make you have a fantastic experience. And after this review what more do I have to say... go there as soon as possible to try this sublime expression of cuisine!

I start from the good... bread and breadsticks... nothing else. Table booked 3 days before inauspicious position with place facing the wall forced and paddle fan overhead... annoying if on , absurd heat if off. After 4 "collectible" shrimps... gone the maitre... and after 1 hour The first from confused and lukewarm flavors .. passed the hunger we skip the dessert ... with which the bill would have reached that of the previous night in top restaurant with lobster for 2. Ps represented our unsatisfaction at checkout .... discount of 1 shrimp. We never go back

Definitely a nice experience, we had dinner on a Saturday night on holiday in Ponza, delicious and fresh fish. They bring you an entre of 3 samples each and then you can choose to eat Ă  la carte or with a tasting menu. Staff prepared and very attentive without being intrusive, the right bill for the quality and refinement of the ingredients. Well done!

After trying several restaurants on the Island, this was the one where I had the best dining experience. Refined dishes prepared with excellent quality ingredients. The location is quite panoramic, but if you go to this restaurant it is certainly not for the view, but for the excellent food. Prices in line with other restaurants in the area (first courses from €20, desserts from €10). Good wine list and good service, but could be improved as the waiter who took the lead - by his own admission - forgot to serve the two glasses of wine ordered upon arrival of the appetizer offered by the establishment (delicious !). Apart from this "inconvenience", the service was attentive and punctual, especially from the waitress who welcomed us. I recommend the aubergine parmigiana with burrata and the smoked heron risotto with Giffoni PGI hazelnuts and prawn tartare, as well as the ravioli. Reservation necessary as it is very popular (and rightly so) also because it is the restaurant of the Piccolo Hotel Luisa.

Evocative location, in the upper part of the village of Ponza. The upper loggia is remarkable, but also the lower terrace overlooks a characteristic view. Precise and fast service, with small 'surprises' that help make dinner a small event. Pane fatto in casa strepitoso! Excellent dishes, good wine selection (try the Levante di Tre venti, white from Ponza), just the markup. After tasty welcome tastings excellent appetizers ... the tuna tartare, excellent), but not to be missed is the 'title track': Shrimp and Capers. Prepared at the table by the Chef who scalds and flambés in two separate pans (why remains a mystery...) fresh red prawns. Also excellent first courses: I point out the cheese and pepper with red shrimp. Even on the seconds the level remains high. Very good desserts (for tiramisu you have again the Chef who mixes the ingredients at the table: delicious mascarpone cream) Account adequate for quality and service. Very pleasant experience.

Refined and tastefully furnished place, kind and prepared staff in explaining the dishes presented, every time, with originality and imagination. We tasted several dishes, one better than the other, both fish and meat based, all washed down with a delicious wine suggested by the restaurant's sommelier. The desserts at the end of the dinner are tasty and inviting, skillfully prepared by the chef at the table. I highly recommend it to all those who love to eat and enjoy a high-level tasting experience.

My husband and I went to dinner at the Gamberi e Capperi restaurant and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was fresh and delicious and the best part was that the chef showed up at the table interacting directly with all the customers. We were thrilled.

Nice location, tables in the veranda yes a hotel, nice view. Tables and furnishings cute waiters in style and very kind. Starter Exaggeratedly high prices appetizer prawns sold per unit 10 euros and served with scenic flumbè .. Taken of the octopus Luciana .. few pieces of boiled octopus with served apart a tasteless tomato sauce .. vote 5. Tagliolini with discrete cacio pepper and shrimp. Refined and welcoming location. The terrace with a view, friendly and competent smiling staff. And then there's him, chef Luigi, who twirls between the tables with his spectacular dishes that do justice to the sublime raw materials. Never banal dishes, delicate combinations and many small pleasant pampering for customers offered by the chef (for example entrées and delicacies accompanying coffee). A very nice experience. Fair prices.
