Caffe Poliziano is a magnificent art nouveau café, worth to visit and drink something in a historic setting, avoid to eat, dogfood is served.

The morning espresso or the afternoon cappuccino enjoying the Val di Chiana-view or the "aperitivo" before dinner (same view of course). The historic Caffe Poliziano deserves its place on my places to visit list in Montepulciano. Beautiful interior, professional service personnel, delicious "dolci", ... I...More

Food is average. Which means it was the worst i had in italy. Nice view and staff. Open all day which is why we came here.

We were looking for a light lunch and stopped in Caffe Poliziano because we passed it several times before and it looked nice. The staff was friendly and we ordered a focaccia and sandwich from the counter and ate in the dining room by the...More

This is a cafe house, should have known better than to eat lunch there. Pici cacio e pepe was soft and mushy as if the pasta had been boiled twenty minutes or leftower pici with cream and pieces of cheese warmed in micro. Large lumps...More

We were lucky enough to get a seat in the balcony and the view is just amazing. You won't go wrong with ice coffee and espresso. The Vin Santo for the cantuccini unfortunately wasn't very good.

An attempt at an early morning jog led to the discovery of this charming pastry and coffee shop open at 7:00. This is a great find in a city that sleeps in Italian style. There is a wide array of pastries and croissants at a...More

Three couples visiting Montepulciano during the lunch hour. We were looking for a place with scenery and Poliziano delivered. Second on our list was local food and wine. No dissapointments there either! We had app's and primis and no negative comments - it was real...More

Had a good table overlooking the valley. Waiter was patient with my rusty Italian. Salads and spinach were good.

Open door, quick glance, beautiful long sweeping bar and glamorous interior, we had to go in. Inside was airy, Art Nouveau romantic and had a distinct presence; we only had time for a drink but had the luck to sit on the small terrace looking...More

Description
Caffè Poliziano Historical Place of Italy. This spacious and elegant Caffè in the historical centre of Montepulciano is a fine example of Art Nouveau design. For generations visitors and local residents have been able to enjoi a glorious view of of the Valdichiana from the balcony. Distinguished guests have included Carducci, Pirandello, Prezzolini, Malaparte, Mario del Monaco, Giulietta Masina,Ornella Muti,, Mario monicelli, Marina Doria di Savoia, Enrico Rava, Mauro Bolognini, Giorgio Battistelli, Licia Colò.... In 1992 the Caffè was lovingly restored to its former glory. Federico Fellini, who visited the "Poliziano" soon after, considered the atmosphere and style to be worthy of a great Central European city such as Vienna or Prague.
