out side disgusting, grass not cut, full of thorns view non existant, weeds not removed, looks like mud wresling pit in front of cottage

What wonderful hosts Rihanna and Maurice were! They had only been there 2 weeks but had already made it a very welcoming and pleasant experience. We arrived late yet they insisted on cooking for us, a rather good Kudo steak, lit the fire and offered us wine.
There are great plans for the place by the new owners, including some revamping of bathrooms, but Vrystaat (freestate) the camel was an interesting addition.
This is a great place to stay for one night or if you want to base yourself there for going into the game reserves.
I’d would return without hesitation!

We actually booked in at Dungbeetle Lodge but they had a bathroom disaster in our room and they very thoughtfully re-booked us into the 5 star Park View overlooking the Addo Elephant Park. This place is really something special, our room was huge with full TV package so we could watch the footy, massive bed could have fitted 4 easily!!
Lodge is situated on the main road to the park so couldn't recommend it highly enough, saying that restaurant was poor so don't bother eating there other than for breakfast which was good.
They also have luxury tented accommodation which is most popular, no TV though!

My adult son and I were pleasantly surprised to see that we had 2 separate bedrooms, each with a queen size bed. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was stunning. We loved the huge deck and enjoyed an amazing night sky with millions of stars.
The lodge is conveniently close to the south entrance of Addo Elephant Park. One morning I saw warthogs whilst sitting on the deck.
The manager and all staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner was delicious and sumptuous.
We’ll come back for sure and I highly recommend this lodge.

We staid in the Matyholweni Rest camp with self catering and were looking for options to eat out. So we found this new place and it was so amazing!
We had a carpaccio and couscous salad for starters and then a burger and the butter chicken for main dishes. Nothing to say but that we were very pleased by the quality of the food. The service is also very friendly. Highly recommended!

A very well appointed guest house, conveniently located for visits to Addo. It may not have been open long but the management certainly know how to look after their guests We arrived in torrential rain but were given a warm welcome, which was extended throughout our visit. We had an excellent evening meal, which was of very high standard, and accompanied by quality wine from the Creation vineyard. Breakfast was again of the same high quality. The staff and proprietor made us feel special and we look forward to returning on our next visit to this wonderful country.

We were fortunate to eat here on our last night in South Africa. We have had many beautiful meals while in this fabulous country and this restaurant delivered too. We had a booking a the elephant footprint but when we arrived at our guest house found the restaurant was closed much to our disappointment as we want a special dinner as it was our last in sa. Thank goodness it was close as I don't think it could be any better than the park view. Our meals was fabulous as was the service. The views from the hotel are stunning. We are planning to return to sa in 2 years time and we can't wait to eat here when we return. I think this restaurant is a great addition to the Colchester area as it has only been open a few months when we visited.

This is a high end camp just south of Addo, with tented suites overlooking the park. We went in for Sunday lunch, for no reason other than seeing its sign on the road. The security guard appeared surprised, and asked whether we had any firearms to check in. We were then welcomed by the owner, who looked after us incredibly well.
We were the only people eating, and he gave us a very proud tour of the place. It is amazingly tranquil and highly luxurious. It has only been open for a few weeks, and the main aim is to get revved up for summer. This might make you nervous about off- season food, but they sensibly have a diverse but small menu.
Very nice wine at recommendation of our host. We had four different dishes for the five of us, so prep, clearly from scratch, took a while but we were in no hurry. Two fantastic ostrich steaks, great chicken curry with all sorts of trimmings, wife had a ludicrously stacked burger which she said was excellent, and I had a brilliant paella.
Only advice would be to offer a really good olive oil as an alternative to butter with the quite outstanding bread.
We wish them all the very best. They certainly have opened doing all the right things.

Had an absolutely amazing evening at Parkview Lodge Restaurant with my husband. Such a stylish, romantic restaurant boasting with an amazing chef. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The stylish ambiance of the lodge makes you feel right at home.
Definitely worth a visit!

Our Guest House does not serve Dinner, and with guests wanting to experience fine dining at times, I went and explored with my friend.
Krone Bubbly.... up my alley, Fine dining with ginormous portions, a great host interaction and lovely music and atmosphere is all I needed to know my guests will be happy!
