We booked a table for a lunch date at 3pm (the last sitting). When we arrived we heard the head waiter say they can only order in the next 5 minutes then the kitchen is closed. We had come for a very rare date (we have a baby at home) and were hoping for a relaxed meal. We ordered a starter to share and then two mains. We were asked if we wanted it all to come together and we said no. Waiter said that was fine. However our mains arrived 5 mins after the starter. Waiter apologised but that was it. We said at the time we booked a table for 3pm expecting to have a time to eat a full lunch. If this is not the case then they should make the last booking of the afternoon earlier. We would have also cancelled the starter if we’d known the mains would come so quickly as we were too full to eat our mains. Food was nice but just all felt so rushed which tainted our experience.

Good location and setup. Took my daughter and her family for her birthday. She had booked for the 3pm sitting. We sat inside which was packed and noisy and the service was average. The pork belly was expensive for 3 x 1inch squares of pork and had to order sides to go with it. My chicken burger was very salty, and tasteless. I couldnt eat it. Pity because they have a great local and is well patronized.

Thanks for your review. You are correct the venue does get very busy a lot of the time especially during our peak summer periods, we think thats a good situation to have! Our pork dish is 150G of rich house cured and roasted succulent pork belly which does come with accompanimnets of grilled raddichio, cauliflower puree and apple butter. A shame you didnt let us know about your burger (one of our most popular dishes) we would have been more than happy to prepare something else for you.

I have been here a few times and it’s become one of my faves! This time I experienced the High Cheese. It was all beautifully presented with each item being absolutely delicious! The variety of cheeses and how they were offered made it thoroughly enjoyable. Whilst limitless tea, coffee & hot choc were included I opted for a pot of their Cider!

I can say confidently that out of the 10 people we were eating with not one person was happy with their meal. To start with, the squid entree that is supposed to be shared with the table literally had 7 pieces of small squid which was not enough for 1 person (might be enough for a child). These squid dishes were taken straight back to the counter. I could see the chef from where I was sitting, with a frustrated look on his face, picking up my squid bare handed in an exchange with the wait staff so I decided to cancel the meal. My friend was very disappointing with his well done steak which was supposed to be medium rare, and at $40 a pop I could understand why. Won't be coming back here.

Thanks for the review. I am sorry we weren't given the opportunity to rectify the squid dish that you were unhappy with. It is designed as an an entree or a shared item for the table along with other dishes. It is portioned out on weight not pieces. The chef handling food with bare hands does occur when preparing and plating food. I can only hope his "'frustrated look" was disappointment that a customer was not enjoying their food. If we do overcook a steak which can happen we will always do our best to correct our mistakes. We do hope you will give us another opportunity.

This was a very disappointing lunch experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming and led us to a table in the far corner of the restaurant with two large sofas. The first impression was great but one of the sofa legs was crooked, which meant you couldn’t lean back. Anyway... we were distracted by the graveyard of dead flies and the cobwebs in the corners and the ceiling. Through dirty floor to ceiling windows (with handsmears and other grim) you overlook the lawn in front of the building and onto the nearby waterpark. On the other side of the restaurant is the Bellarine Highway, so FB is not really in a particularly inviting or picturesque setting. Hoping for a lovely meal we ordered the seafood platter to share and four mains. The platter was tiny and quite disappointing given the $37 price tag. As mains we had steaks which were grisly, charred and served with a boring salad of beetroot and green leave mix (you’d find better salad in a hospital canteen) lacking texture and flavour. The steaks were accompanied by a dry brick of potato dauphinois (not latke as noted on the menu) and the fact that there was no more than a teaspoon of jus on the plate didn’t make eating it any easier. The vegan Pastille was dry, bland and boring. We ate less than half of it. The lamb shoulder was tender but the tomato based sauce was sweet and lacked both flavour and salt. The original cider was not available on tap (ie in a pint) and was instead brought to the table in a can. I was offered a glass at least. The ciders were both nice. Overall a very disappointing $230 experience for the four of us. The friendly staff saved this review from only receiving one point. We will certainly not return.

Hello Christian, Thank you for the great feedback on our friendly and welcoming staff. Disappointing that you felt your recent visit was less than perfect, we pride ourselves on our providing a great experience on all levels. Re. the cobwebs and windows, we take a lot of care in keeping the premises as clean as is humanly possible which sometimes, given the vast expanse, height and architectural features and walls of glass can prove a little tricky (especially the cobwebs) given that we are a essentially, a venue in the middle of a paddock. We also ensure vigilant Covid-safe sanitisation procedures are adhered to all day, every day for the safety of our great team and patrons. Surprising that the actual table at which you were seated didn’t seem to appeal – Table 1 is our most requested table with sweeping 180 degree views of our expansive lawns and shiraz vines. If you had let one of our team members know it wasn’t to your liking, we would have happily moved you to another table. Similarly, if you had mentioned the couch leg, we would have immediately replaced it for another - we actually do a quality check on all chairs and tables prior to every service but obviously, on the day you visited, there was an issue with that leg which presented itself when you were seated. Re. your meals, it’s such a shame you didn’t mention your thoughts to your waitress or myself on the day instead of waiting until after you left. We would have bent over backwards to change your experience into a positive one. Your feedback has been passed onto our culinary team who will most certainly take your feedback on board, they take great pride in what they do. Very pleased to hear you enjoyed our ciders, all 100% naturally crafted from fresh Victorian fruit. I do apologise that our Original Cider was not on tap – since reopening there has been unprecedented demand for all of our ciders and, on the day you visited, our keg stock of Original had been depleted. Luckily, our other Flying Brick kegged ciders – Draught, Pear, PAV, Pachinga – were all available, I do hope you got to try them. We do hope you will consider visiting Flying Brick Cider House in the future. Cheers, Erica Sutherland | Operations Manager Flying Brick Cider House

Underwhelming. Whilst our initial interaction with the staff was good it all went downhill from there. The waiter we had was clearly new and I experienced. Kept telling us what his boss wants him to,do. “I have to ask if you want me to,pour your wine”. And “I have been told to clear your table”.he came out while our entree plates and serving platter was still,on the table and asked how our main was. We hadn’t received it yet! Almost an hour after ordering, someone from the kitchen arrive with our mains and apologised for,the wait. I had ordered what was called “crispy pork belly” on,y to receive a small, piece of gelatinous meat. The only crispy part was one burnt corner. I had to go and seek, out a member of staff to advise. My husband had ordered the lamb, which was fine except for,the raw vegetables that accompanied it. They did (obviously) not charge for the pork a d gave a further 20% discount but I left without having had a meal. Very disappointing given the lovely surrounds of the place.

Thank you for your feedback, we take it very seriously as we are always striving to deliver the best possible customer experience on all levels. Apologies if you felt your waiter lacked experience - over the super busy Summer period we do take on a lot of younger team members and very much focus on training them up, they have to start somewhere but it can be very nerve wracking for them and it obviously showed on this occasion. Re. the food, we also apologise if you felt it wasn't up to your expectations on this occasion - both the pork belly and slow cooked lamb are two of our signature dishes. We're sorry you didn't order a replacement for your pork belly so you could have left feeling happier with your overall experience. We hope you will consider giving us another try, we very much pride ourselves on serving up great food and service Cheers from the Flying Brick team : )

Amazing from the moment we walked in, friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. We had the charcuterie board and cauliflower to start with and bottle of Yes Said The Seal Pinot wow so good. I had the slow cooked lamb, great balanced flavours and my girlfriend had the beetroot pastilla she loved it. We had the macaroons and chocolate mousse for desert matched with 2 glasses of wine by our friendly and knowledgeable waiter. It was a Friday night with live music which was unexpected and great, busy place so you need to book. Would love to come back during the day and spend some time on the lawn. Well done guys!! Keep up the great work.

Cheers to this fabulous feedback! We are all delighted you enjoyed all we have to offer here at Flying Brick Cider House, there is a lot of pride and passion in all we do and it's nice to know that it shows. Our Head Chef, Josh Reader and culinary team are always creating new dishes which salute fresh seasonal produce. You picked a wonderful wine btw - the Yes said the Seal Pinot Noir is a regional signature, it boasts ongoing pedigree as far as awards go and is grown and crafted here on The Bellarine by leading winemaker, Darren Burke. Thank you again for taking the time to post. We look forward to welcoming you back to Flying Brick again soon. Cheers from the Flying Brick team : )

Booked for my birthday lunch with the family. Waste of time. The menu doesn’t include lunch dishes, rather a selection of very heavy evening meals and all quite expensive. Need to engage with the market and serve a decent selection of fresh, light, healthy lunches at more affordable places. Fortunately there was a wide variety of suitable venues across the region to select from, all of whom understand what people are looking for when dining out for lunch. Booking cancelled.

Dear 199alliek, thank you for providing this feedback, we take all constructive feedback very seriously. Surprised you didn't see/find anything to your liking on the Menu, it's a very popular Lunch destination - patrons looking for smaller dishes usually order a mix of our smaller items to share such as the Korean silken tofu, Cauliflower or one of our great platters to mention a few - all of which are healthy and great to share with friends/co-diners. We hope you will consider revisiting Flying Brick Cider House at some stage - we are all very proud of what we have to offer and have a lot of repeat customers who enjoy. Cheers from the Flying Brick team : )

I have wanted to try the food here for years. Finally got the chance and decided to have lunch here as an end of work week treat. Ordered the burger of the day, which was Pork Belly for $25. Not a very big bun with a small basket of chips, I would consider this a light meal only. Main problem was my pork belly serve in my bun was about 90% fat, so by the time I removed some I was left with mostly coleslaw and chutney, which ended up tasting pretty ordinary. My husband fared better with his meat serve as did the guy on the next table, my bun was flat in comparison. Pork belly does normally have a lot of fat, which is usually rendered down and would at least have a thin crispy skin - this was neither and the skin was soft. I should have complained and I regret I didn't. My advise is, if you order it and the fat ratio clearly out numbers the meat, then complain! Needless to say my long yearning to try the food here ended up a big disappointment and I won't be back!

Dear Dragonlady, thank you for posting your thoughts on our Burger of the Day on your recent visit, we take such feedback very seriously - especially given that the Burger of the Day is one of our most popular items on the Menu. What a shame you didn't raise your disappointment on the day, we would have bent over backwards to rectify the situation and left with smile. We hope you will consider returning to Flying Brick in the future. We are all extremely proud of our current Menu and the clean plates returning to the 'dishie' area are testament to the calibre of the food. Pleased to hear your husband and 'guy on the next table' enjoyed their burgers. Cheers from the Flying Brick team : )

I had been wanting to visit and sample the ciders and food for quite awhile and we weren't let down. The building is quite impressive with large seating areas inside and out. We dined in on a Tuesday so it was a bit quiet which was great so we could take everything in. The menu is reasonably priced with enough variety for everyone to choose from. The food was excellent and very generous in size. The cider paddle went down really well with our meal. The staff were very friendly and informative. Loved it. Highly recommend to book, dine in and enjoy.

Went for a quiet Friday night easy dinner. Share plates were very yummy, I had the PORK belly and my wife had the Bocconcini Salad which were both delicious, for mains my wife had the chicken, which was tasty, but had the feel of being precooked and reheated. I went the Eye Fillet, which unfortunately appeared to have been poached and not even pan fried to add the normal “crust” on the outside, it was served with a small amount of mash and a few greens, but totally lacked taste. I asked the waitress if I had missed something on the menu in that should I have ordered a sauce or something, to which she responded, no, they don’t serve sauce with it.. it wasn’t until we asked for the menu to see the deserts that I saw the menu item said it was meant to come with a Cafe de Paris butter, which mine obviously did not. We then saw others steaks being served after we finished ours and sure enough, they did have a round disk of butter on top, which of course would have included all the flavour 😢 so obviously a stuff up from the kitchen. After a bill of $198 for the two of us, not sure if we’ll go again, or if we do, might just stick to the burgers.

My score 4.25 stars. Great location. Slick set up inside & out – with nice views. Staff pleasant & helpful. Quite busy on a Wednesday, would go off on W/E & school holidays. We had Entree Calamari & salad - Very good, tender calamari & nice interesting salad (thought has been put in here). We shared the Seafood platter – Mussels w pickled onion very tasty. Nice oysters, prawns & bugs. Standout was the tuna crudo – delicious! Plenty of house made wine & cider to be had – we preferred the Pear cider.

We had lunch here with a large group. This venue is quite large so although it was popular, it didn’t feel crowded. The lawn area looked very relaxing and perfect for families. Great ambience. The menu was extensive and our meals were fabulous, tasty and memorable. Meal prices were reasonable. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. The process from ordering to receiving our meals was smooth and even though we were a large group, all the meals came out at the same time. We won’t hesitate to go back again for a meal or recommend it to others. Well done Flying Brick Cider Co crew.
