It was a busy Sat night with only two staff waiting tables. I really wanted to like this place as it had a great vibe with friendly staff, a terrific cocktail list and a menu where there were quite a few dishes including desserts I...wanted to try. There were initial issues trying to get served as the waitress kept going to tables to take orders that had been seated after us. We had to eventually call her over. Ordered 3 dishes in total plus drinks. Took quite a while for anything to come out. Only 2 plates arrived which sent off alarm bells but we thought we’d give her the benefit of the doubt as it had only been a small order. Shallot pancakes were heavy and doughy but the soft shell crab burger was very tasty, albeit small. After waiting a while more we then enquired as to how much longer it would be until the second main was ready. She went away to check and then came back and apologised explaining she had indeed forgotten to put the order through. More waiting and reassurance it would’t be much longer. By now I’d well and truly eaten my food as it would’ve been completely cold otherwise. Eventually got fed up and asked for take away. Still more waiting and I went in to pay. When asked how it all was, I explained we were still waiting for one of the dishes to come out. The other waiter was incredulous and thought I was kidding. Found out then that much to the kitchen’s dismay, they hadn’t even been told it was an urgent order due to the stuff up. Even more waiting and we then tried to cancel but at that stage it was apparently close to being plated up. The meal was finally ready 1.5hrs after we arrived. Mistakes do happen but when they do, you have to own them and try to make amends, not attempt to cover them up and pretend nothing has happened. By not telling the kitchen she had stuffed up, our waitress single handedly destroyed our dining experience, lost the restaurant at least an extra $50 in food and drinks, and trashed its reputation, as not only will we never return but we will share our negative experience with friends and colleagues, which will in turn cost them further business into the future.More

First visit, we really loved this place. Sat at a cozy table outside. Our server was helpful and friendly - actually he was EXCELLENT. The food was to die for. I had barramundi and my husband had one of the burgers. Our food was delicious....They had a great selection of gin and tonics - unbelievably good! We plan to eat here every time we visit Semaphore.More

Hades Hula Hut offers simple meals and an exciting array of cocktails based around a Hawaiian/Pacific theme. The interior is very unusual but welcoming. Staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable. Check for opening times. Parking can be a problem.

We went for lunch yesterday and the place was great. I’ve been wanting to get to this place for over a year and it wa worth the wait. The food menu is simple but funky. I had the soft shell crab 🦀 burger...was fresh and...tasty. The slaw would have been better with some dressing. The drinks and cocktail 🍹 menu is really where it’s at. The use of rum is awesome...The Dark and Stormy, a must do. I will be back. Love the interior of the place.More

I visited after hearing about their Thursday night Burger and Beer deal but when I got there I didn't feel like anything so filling. I had a serve of vegetarian spring rolls which were freshly fried, crisp and delicious, and since I couldn't decide on...a cocktail Abby recommended a hot toddy, which was exactly right for a chilly evening. I love the decor. It's a very quirky place. There was a band playing in the corner which was an added bonus. Tip: Bring an extra layer in winter as there is no buffer between the front door and the tables. It's a very small bar.More

Walked out of the house to get away fro. My boring week, and had the best macaroni balls! Joined by a few friends we talked ourselves into a 4 person cocktail bowl. Enjoyed a friendly staffed happy atmosphere vibe. Kinda place that makes you feel...cool just being there.More

Expensive drinks and poor customer service! I came to this bar with my sisters for a few drinks to be greeted by a rude owner and bartender! The drinks were good - and we definitely don’t mind paying $$ for a good drink! After using...the bathroom, the bartender came up to me and asked if I had vomited in there... How awful! (Note that we had only had one or two drinks at this point) Definitely won’t be returning!More

This interesting offering in Semaphore Road is a very different look to the rest of the cafes etc. a wine bar with eclectic food offerings and some live music. We popped in to see what was offering and decided not to stay as it is...very dark inside. It is popular with younger crowd though. Something for the young at heart on a night outMore

I visited the Hula House on 31May. I was greeted by Abby and Julie the owners whom welcomed me and sat me at the beautiful bar. The restaurant is stunning! It has been transformed, there is little tiki representations throughout with modern furnishings. The food...was amazing. I had the chicken burger which was a taste sensation. That was paired with the great Australian bite, which is a unique cocktail served in a shark glass. The experience is a must see for Adelaide! Located in beautiful semaphore, go spend some time with Abby and Julie! ThankyouMore

My husband and I went here for lunch on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised by several aspects of this venue. Firstly, the owner/manager who was just delightful, friendly and fun. Secondly, the decor, which is really quirky and makes you feel like you are...actually in a Tiki Hut. And thirdly, but by no means leastly was the food. It was nice to see a menu that was not your average fare, lots of tempting titbits here! We were well satisfied with our choices and can't wait to return to try something else. Decent size servings too :) I believe that they have entertainment some Fridays and Saturdays which will be worth checking out too.More

Found this quirky and exotic spot where an old favourite used to be. Felt transported to another location as soon as I stepped through the doors. The food and beverages were absolutely phenomenal. Was a really fun experience, and I've been back twice since. An...adventure that won't break that bank.More
