Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We wanted to try an authentic Umbrian restaurant and loved every bite here. They have a seasonal menu. We were talking to Elena and they source many of the ingredients from other local families. The 25 euro prix fixe menu was fabulous. We didn't get pictures of everything because we were too excited about eating it.

Food, service, and wine were some of the best. A great and romantic place. Located on the third floor to the left of the building- not well marked. One of our better meals in Italy.

Dining at L'Alberata felt like having dinner with my Italian family. Every dish was true to the region, and all the ingredients were fresh and local. The small, intimate dining room enhanced the experience even more - you expected your Italian grandmother to walk through the door at any minute. Our server, Antonio was helpful and informative, and each course was as tasty as it was beautiful. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful way to begin our vacation in Umbria. We are three New Yorkers and we ate at L'Alberata on the night of our arrival in Italy. It was our first experience in an Umbrian restaurant, and such a delightful one. We were warmly welcomed by the host, Antonio and his niece, Elena, and then ordered the prix fixe menu (very reasonably priced - five courses). The restaurant has beautiful views of the countryside and a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We were impressed by the variety and freshness of the ingredients and thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes, especially the pasta with black truffle and the codfish - both were outstanding. Antonio chose two lovely wines to accompany our meal. We spent a leisurely two and a half hours savoring the entire meal. We received wonderful service and hospitality throughout the evening. A few days later, we took a cooking class at the restaurant. The chef, la signora Silvana, taught us to make pasta completely by hand. One of us used a big goose egg instead of two chicken eggs, which produced a pasta with a slightly different flavor. It was great fun! Silvana has a sly sense of humor; she was encouraging and teased us just a little. We grated a beautiful fresh truffle into large flakes to use in a sauce made with garlic-flavored olive oil. Delizioso! This is a special place because of its location and the quality of the food, but it is especially engaging and memorable because of the people who work to make visitors feel so welcome: Elena and her mother, Silvana, the chef; Elena's father, whom we met in the small market downstairs after our meal; and Antonio, Elena's uncle, who welcomed us on our arrival and took care of us at every step after that. Such kind and warm people. Elena translated for us and she has such pride in what the family has created. They bring great passion and love to all they do and create. We felt welcomed to the restaurant like family. An Umbrian gem! We look forward to our return to the restaurant tonight (We had to end our time here with another visit to the restaurant!) and, hopefully, next summer. L'Alberata is not to be missed!

Elena and her Mother opened up especially for us as we were passing by. The food was delicious, and you couldn’t wish to meet nicer people. We would go there again, but sadly having to go home tomorrow. Just wish we had found this wonderful place sooner.

When both the quality of food and the service are as perfect as you have experienced it is impossible to do anything but rave about the experience. We enjoyed everything and have told anyone who will listen to make their way there. You should discover it also!

This place was a hidden gem. Very close to our hotel in Collepepe (Abby) , the owner was one of the nicest people on the planet earth. The 5 course dinner was beyond delicious and very affordable. We loved every bite. Very quiet and unique experience with a lot of attention to detail. Nice atmosphere with relaxing feeling of home sweet home. Eggplant was amazing and so was the porchetta! Beautiful wines we can’t wait to come back to this area and this restaurant!
