Excellent food, superb dining experience. Menu midi was simply delightful, well presented and freshly cooked with local ingredients. We will return.

Just had a reunion with some friends and had a wonderfully relaxed meal in the restored vine covered courtyard behind the main building. Great lunch menu - selection of salads from buffet, main course and selection of mini desserts again, in buffet form. Fresh, crunchy...salads, toasted seeds to garnish, dense artisan bread, light fluffy quiche full,of flavour, just enough frites to liven the plate without overwhelming it. And tiny shot glasses of ricotta and peche conserve to die for. You can have a menu complet or just two courses, and two members of our group found the starter/main more than enough. Accompanied by Oceane, our cheerful bi lingual waitress who was on point with orders, attentive without being intrusive and savvy enough to check she had our bill right (some complet menus, others not) before doing her totals. Was staying locally and looking for a good restaurant but couldn’t really see anything in Guéméné-sur-Scorff so intended to head of Pontivy. However, we decided to drive through Guéméné-sur-Scorff and physically look. On street parking was easy and there are a few restaurants but, at...this time of year, most were closed. We found Aux Sabboits Rouges and decided to give it a go. There are tables outside, tables in the main bar area, a more formal dining area at the rear and a nice little courtyard area at the back (where we sat). The owners and staff were so friendly, the decor and atmosphere first class. The menu was good and, although I could not see vegan options (I see the review here says there are), there were vegetarian options and the young lady serving was very helpful. The quality of the food was first class as well, as was the presentation, and whilst the menu wasn’t traditional French it was excellen. Great bottled beer and wine menu as well. I had their chilli squid which was presented on a mixed salad, with a main of beef madras (so tender and full of flavour). They did amazing burgers, traditional fish and chips, and many more options. Highly recommend this place and would go back again.More

Hotel run by Ash and his partner, English and Australian. Ash does the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, the bar feels quite like an English pub. As for the accommodation, the rooms are spacious and well set out, with king size beds. Breakfast...is continental and very nice.More

Three generations had a fabulous two course meal at this restaurant. Great ambience and decor, extremely friendly and accommodating staff and superb food!!!

We were told about this restaurant by a local and we booked for a mid week evening. It was delightful. In the olden days, it was a butcher shop hence to name "Red Clogs". Apparently the butcher butchered the beast in the central courtyard you...can see from the dining room. This restaurant had a bar at the front, frequented by expats and French and a beautiful dining room, decorated with wildflowers. There was also a community bookshelf. We had a main and a desert. Mine was the cod with a sweet mustard sauce and vegetables. It was delicious and well cooked. My husband had the curry, needing beef. Alas this was not so spectacular but indeed palatable. My desert was a creme brûlée, again wonderful and my partners the profiter rolls, again a tad ordinary and filled with ice cream! I ordered well and had a good meal. I would return and no doubt would be just as satisfied. It is a place to seek out and enjoy.More

Guémené-sur-Scorff is a beautiful little town and it attracts a fair number of tourists. If you find yourself in or around Guémené take the time to find Aux Sabots Rouges. From the road there is little evidence of what lies within. A narrow frontage leads...into a small bar area with a few tables and bar stools. The bar offers an excellent choice for beer drinkers. The wine list is extensive too. Towards the back of the bar a door opens to reveal a much larger dining area, tastefully decorated and with enough light to be able to read the menu but not require sunglasses. The menu was of considerable concern to me. I was greatly troubled. There wasn’t a single item of the menu that I wouldn’t have eaten. After much thought and with the wisdom acquired through drinking Grimbergen Blonde beer, I opted for a starter of salt and chilli squid and a spicy chicken burger for the main. I can honestly say that I have never had better salt and chilli squid in any restaurant. The spicy chicken burger, served with chorizo, gherkin, onion, tomato, cheese, salad and with a side salad and chips, also hit the heights. In addition to the wine list there is a bottled beer list featuring some stunning beers, the least interesting of which is an offering from the St. James Gate Brewery, Dublin. We visited on a Thursday evening, arriving at about 7pm and were shown through to an empty dining room. By 8pm the dining room was almost full and there was a good mix of English and French diners. I think it speaks volumes about the quality of food and service when local residents use the place. I think I will make a reservation for future visits as I suspect this place can get very busy in the summer. Our host was working alone front of house. Under normal circumstances there would be more staff on but even running the restaurant and bar alone, service was prompt, polite, efficient and very pleasant. English is spoken but please make the effort to try your French language skills as I am sure it is appreciated if you at least try! If you are lucky enough to live locally or happen to be staying near Guémemé I can wholeheartedly recommend Aux Sabots Rouges. I am absolutely sure you will not be disappointed.More
