We stayed here for 1 night en-route to the west country. This is not a hotel. Its a pub with rooms. Money needs to be spent here. The stair carpet leading to the accommodation was worn out and I suspect would not pass a health...More

We visit the George whenever we can’t face going to the hopelessly pretentious and overpriced Swan just down the road. Today was a spur of the moment Monday lunchtime visit, and unsurprisingly the dining room was well-nigh empty. The food took a long time to come...More

Well thank you very much. I’m sure all the staff will be pleased to hear their efforts are bearing fruit. We will try to speed up a little! Thanks again.

The pub is very old as used to be a coaching inn. Has some lovely old fireplaces and decorated with empty picture frames and hanging cherubs which looked really good. Lovely food my steak was cooked to perfection.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch. Snack menu available but we had the Sunday roast. Both the beef (medium rare) and the pork were delicious with lots of vegetables cooked perfectly. Sadly no room for dessert! Good wine list and a nice coffee. Service was warm...More

Thanks for your review. Given you appear to have liked the place in general other than your points I must say 2 stars seems rather unfair. So to address your points. The beer. We only keep two beers on draught as that’s what the local...More

We are sorry to see your experience with us was not great. The issues with the table are inexcusable and we will look into that promptly. In respect of the food whilst we can always make mistakes the majority of our customers hold the opposite...More

Great food, good beer and friendly staff and patrons. We had our meal in a 15th century room with much history and atmosphere.

Iona served us today, we had not booked, Iona assisted from the start in finding a table and excellent service throughout. We will visit again due to the change in menu and the service we received from Irona. Excellent food, reasonably priced, excellent service throughout,
