This is in my view the best restaurant in Sougia for a number of reasons. The food is both traditional and modern. its well done and presented, the service is great and the prices are more than decent. On top of that it has a...More

We have had some very good meals here in the past but the last two meals were poor. The atmosphere is good, open air and friendly and the staff are very friendly and efficient. I had the Haloumi stuffed chicken and it was very overcooked...More

It is very hard to eat badly in Sougia, all the places we tried were good but this stands out as being one of the best. The garden is drop dead gorgeous if you come in spring and the food and service are outstanding.

We tried the three top tripadvisor restaurants (Rebetiko, Anchorage, Polifimos) at that time. Anchorage and Polifimos were definitly our favorites. We had a few appetizers, Bifteki and lamb chops. Food, wine and the service was excellent! They have a very cozy seating area outside. Raki...More

Really nice restaurant in Sougia; there is a handful of really nice traditional restaurants in Sougia and this is one. Great vegetarian options and fresh fish. Really good service and reasonably priced, the staff are very friendly and free traditional puddings and spirits to finish...More

Hidden behind an ugly white apartment building on the upper end of the main (and only) street in Sougia, this is a quiet, charming place with a big menu of authentic Cretan specialties. The stuffed vine leaves were particularly tasty.

Excellent choice of Greek specialities and the best, roughest red wine we had all holiday. But why does this one taverna say that the Sougia water is not safe and will not serve tap water but try to sell you bottled water. The other tavernas...More

Polifimos is without doubt the best restaurant in Sougia. Their kontesouvli (marinated pork) is heaven (unless you are s veggie, and there is normally no more of it after 21.00), and the moussaka is the best I have had anywhere in Greece (trust me). The...More

Hidden away from the main street in Sougia lies the Tavern Polifimos. Surrounded by a beautiful garden with flowers and an impressive tamarisk tree our guests can enjoy traditional Cretan and Greek cooking. Polifimos' kitchen is well-known for the grilled dishes on its menu - especially the Kontosouvli. The menu also offers a variety of starters - all homemade - and sea food. For the owner, Ioannis Marnelakis, the quality of the food is a matter close to his heart and he takes great care when selecting the ingredients for his restaurant. Once or twice a week Giannis organizes live concerts at the tavern. Cretan and Greek musicians play bouzouki, lyra, and lute.
