We went here just after it opened and it is very busy I fancy for the same reason we went.....curiosity.
To start there is vertualy no parking on premises so if you see any on street parking grab it, it must be creating havoc with the existing restaurants nearby.
As expected it is all brand new and shiny supposedly every seat has a view, 60% of the tables are indoor with aircon. The remainder are outside alfresco, you stand in line to order your food then stand in line for your drinks.
We ordered Japanese gyoza ( which we were told haven't been delivered yet, so they buy them in) we changed our choice to the chicken wings which were nice.
I ordered the cold seafood tasting plate, every thing on it gave the impression that it was bought from outside smoked salmon prawns tiny oysters, essentially all they did was assemble the stuff on the platter.
Look some of you reading this may like it but it is for us plus it isn't cheap. If you have to look at the sea while you are eating this may suit you. I remember the chef that was there before the new club was built I hoped they might have replaced him with a proper one but I doubt it

I live about 100m from this place and have been there many times for lunch and afternoon drinks, both before and after the renovation. I think the lunch menu is excellent and the meals we have had (like maybe 30) have been very generous and very good so I have no idea what the rest are complaining about. If you are a member you get a discount on drinks from 3-5pm every day and it is VERY cheap, add a nachos (which is huge by any scale) and you have a fantastic drinks and nibbles afternoon with an awesome view. If it was crap, I would say it.

A small group of us dined at the Sunshine Beach Surf Club on January 27th. The atmosphere, service and setting were all extremely relaxed and typical of what the best Queensland Surf Clubs have to offer. The menu was pretty varied and reasonably priced and even though the place was very busy, our food came quite quickly - and all at the same time which was a bonus !
A great place to have a relaxed lunch or dinner but one serious word of warning. If you are a pizza lover, please do not order one here. I ordered the pulled beef and chorizo pizza and it was a big mistake. The pizza was thick, doughy and covered in a weird BBQ type sauce. It was possibly the worst pizza I have ever had and after one slice, I decided to share my wife's steak - which was excellent. A simple case of ordering the wrong thing on my part.
We will definitely go back - but will be giving the pizzas a very wide berth !

Ate here for a dinner and it was mediocre at best. The new reno is impressive and grand and ALL surf clubs have a great view, but the atmosphere and food here is bland and average. Inside is ridiculously noisy due to all of the concrete and the food was boring and bland. I had the char grilled salmon which was served as pieces on a stale toasted sourdough and tabouli! My partner had the steak which was well overcooked and the sides were nothing great. Others at our party all said their food was 'average'. So, yeah - awesome views with average food sums it up!

VNess, its disappointing your food wasn't up to your expectations. In cases like this we'd hope you'd let our staff know while you're here so we can do something to improve your experience. The acoustics are being addressed as you know the building is only a few weeks old and there are a few things still be sorted out. We hope our members and guests give us a little leeway while we get the interiors of the club finishing touches completed. Outside is already a stunning building sweeping respectfully into the landscape, the beers are cold and a wide ranging wine selection always makes for a good afternoon or evening.

We booked a table for 35 people for our daughters 21st family dinner, we were told it would be on the deck, when we arrived we had to wait nearly 15 minutes for people to finish at the tables we had booked, we were 5 seats short so people had to stand, we were put right next to the kids play area, tables were separated so we couldnt sit and talk together, then I asked for plates for the birthday cake and was charged 50 cents per plate to use them and 50 cents for a steak knife to cut the cake. I have to say I was extremely disappointed as I really want this to be a special night. It was crazy busy, so packed and so noisey. We were regulars at the old surf club but after this crap experience, I can safely say we will never be back!! I would never recommend this place for a family dinner or function!!! And have heard nothing bad reviews from people I have talked to since!!

Asked for kids meals to come out with mains, they came out before anything else, before entrees. Kids meals were very small and basically tasteless. Over cooked pasta. Had battered flathead with chips and salad for main, salad was Greek salad. Who has greek salad with fish and chips?? Didn’t work at all. Very busy but no atmosphere

Our first visit back to the SBSLC after the major reno!
Impressive use of materials, space. Functionality is on point.
Booths are squishy but the view if you jag the end seat is worth holding on for.
Was quite noisy inside between music and people on an ordinary Tuesday night, acoustics need attention?
The view from outside is breathtaking. We thought they would make that area bigger in the reno, but still special as is.
Food...
Order taker itched her nose then flipped a monto carlo on customer plate before us without tongs. We didn't like that much.50% of our table were happy with their order.
Gnocchi Bolognese, kids chicken nuggets and chips were winning big.
Kingfish bowl was squishy and not even half was eaten.
The fish was well undercooked and the bowl in general was dissimilar to the menu description. If fish was being served raw, menu should reflect that.
Same to be said for the nachos. More beans than meat, not as described.
We will go back and try different items as the view is killer 😊

Thanks for your review and agree with your tag "Lifeisshorteatthecake" so we look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy what we agree is an architecturally amazing building and equally impressive inside. This week our art murals are being completed as well as our Surf Club memorabilia, so good reason to drop on by again and check it out. We'll pass your comments onto Chef, and please next time if anything is not to your liking, let us know before you leave. Thanks again!

As a long time member and supporter of the club, I was extremely disappointed and shocked by the treatment myself and my family received today. We attended the venue for my mums birthday lunch as it’s a tradition of ours each year, and found ourselves waiting over an hour for our food to arrive, with other diners who had arrived much later than us, receiving theirs first. After approaching the dining staff and asking for a refund, as we didn’t want to wait any longer, I was refunded less money than what I had paid for the lunch. I asked to speak to the Venue Manager Ty, who told me it wasn’t his problem as the food section was completely separate. I told him that I had already received my refund but wanted to share my experience with him as he was the supposed “Venue Manager”. He dismissed all the information that I shared with him and told me he “didn’t care” if I no longer supported the venue in the future as it didn’t affect him.
I hope the management of this venue take into consideration who they have representing their company as it reflects heavily on their business and whether locals will continue to support them in the future.

Bugs and Sat’n’Pepper Squid
Bugs were amazing recommended by waitress who was delightful ‘Sienna’ and live up to recommendation will definitely order again despite 40min food queue wait, prior to renovation max 10min wait might need addressing.
S & P Squid undercooked initially however waitress ‘Lisa’ very amenable and quickly rectified, returned with extremely tasty and delicious Squid.
Reno nice and pleasing although feels very noisy even outside, may need more soft furnishing to absorb sound off concrete surrounds. Love the idea of terrace seating areas to enjoy the view.

First impressions favourable. No signs of pokies on entry (they are discretely hidden well away). Relatively elegant for a surf club, and plenty of "the beautiful people." A bit lacking contact with nature, though front row views of the ocean are spectacular. Why are everybody shouting? To get heard, but unfortunately one person shouting makes another hard of hearing. The problem seems to be concrete floor combined with concrete ceiling. Hopefully they may insulate the ceiling in future. It certainly seems needed. Fair selection of tap beers, including some craft, ones, but not very adventurous. I had the steak with an overly salty source combined with a tasteless salad and a slightly salty potato dish. OK but not restaurant standard, though priced as such. Traditional surf club service. The food and napkins on the floor by our table at the beginning of our evening remained there at the end.

We recently visited the new Sunshine Beach Surf Club. Yes, it has the most amazing location and vista, looking out over beautiful Sunshine Beach. The design, from the outside, looks fabulous. But once you walk in, if the place is very busy, you can hardly hear yourself think, let alone speak. The acoustics are terrible. Sorry, but they are. It's like being in an echo chamber. The service is great, and the food, well, what you'd expect from a surf club unfortunately; very mass produced. So, we were underwhelmed, having heard so much about the new club. As mentioned, the location is stunning, and the gardens are lovely. The service is very good, friendly and attentive. But the food is forgettable and the noise spoils what could otherwise be a pleasant experience.

We had lunch. , we are members and locals and have had many enjoyable meals before the renovations but sadly the meal we had on Saturday was very disappointing! Especially as we had visitors with us and were very excited about showing off our local . My burger was cold and the couple we had taken ordered the eye fillets and they came 20-30 minutes after our meals !!
The day before my husband and I had had lunch at Noosa Surf Club and it was very enjoyable. We had been going to the Noosa club while the renovations were being done .

The Sunshine Surfclub has been our “Local” since 1996. Many changes over the years with not everybody happy, cannot please all, but honestly this is a club to be proud of (still). We had lunch today, five days after reopening after 11 month TRANSFORMATION and it is a credit to those who created it. The food was delicious and the menu is one obviously very carefully thought over and has achieved that balance of pleasing many different tastes and needs. We had Turkish Bread with Garlic Confit, a Mezze Plate with 7 items all fresh and a Seaweed, avocado, pickled Lotus Root, Quinoa Salad, all delicious. Cannot wait to go back and go through the menu.

The SBSLC has recently opened and it is fabulous......12 out of 10 !!!!!!!
The food is amazing. So well presented and enticing. The service is amazing and the views overlooking the ocean are superb !! There are several areas to dine, inside and outside which is great. The meals are reasonably priced and the wine is definitely cheaper per glass than any of the cafes in Duke Street. Well done guys. We will return soon.

It was nice to visit the new renovated sunshine surf club but unfortunately they forgot to update their kitchen staff. We had burgers and pork which was very processed and extremely tough. Such a shame as the club has a great atmosphere. I would not recommend eating a meal here at all.
