This is well fitted out and the staff so friendly. Not normally a fan of Weatherspoons but this was a great surprise. The real ale was spot on.

Predictable, reliable and acceptable breakfast offering. Well cooked and presented and excellent value. Handy for Travelodge which has no food offerings.

Called in for what proved to be an excellent curry served in no time at all. As it was Spoons I had the choice of ales and went for a very good Porter. I also had a side order of poppadums (sp?) and dips. Astonishingly...More

I love a Wetherspoons but wasn't taken with this one. Usual menu and layout. Large clean toilets upstairs. Table needed a clean. No salt and pepper on table. Visited Monday lunchtime, busy but got table easy enough. Service ok, food came quick. Ordered gammon, gammon...More

Description
The new town of West Hartlepool can be said to date from 1844, when the Hartlepool West Harbour & Dock Company was formed. The following January, Ralf Ward Kackson cut the first sod for the coal dock, which he opened in June 1847. The name 'ward room' derives from a meeting place om board ships. It links Ward Jackson and ship-building with this premises and modern town, which prides itself on its marina and historic quay. Ralph Ward Jackson's statue stands in front of this pub.
