This is the second visit to the Almighty Cod and the second time we have waited 50 minutes for fish and chips in the restaurant . We won't be returning. Although the fish was very nice the chips were awful. The bread had cheap margarine on it and was certainly not butter as advertised. Although the restaurant was advertised as... More

My husband and I usually visit The Almighty Cod at least once every two weeks or so for lunch. These have to be the best fish & chips in the area. We're always more than happy with our meals and the staff are friendly. We've tried other 'fish shops' but always come back to The Almighty Cod!

Brilliant service, gluten free battered fish is delicious & its reasonably priced too! You pay a little more for gf but this is now our favourite place for gf fish & chips.

I didn't know about this restaurant so found it by chance. It was clean and tidy and we were shown to a table by a staff member. We all picked the meal deal for £7.99 which was either a large Haddock or Cod with chips, peas a slice of bread and butter and a coffee or tea. The drinks came... More

It was a cold windy Monday lunchtime when I visited here in search of the excellent fish & chips I'd read about. I'd also read about (occasionally) the surly staff... With it being cold I first went to the restaurant (that sounds a bit grand, it was more like a basic cafe to be honest) but a very pleasant member... More

Bill W. Thanks for your review. I do believe when you came around lunch time our "basic cafe" was full, that says a lot in our eyes!! And if you think our establishment is basic, the food was never going to good enough anyway was it?! As for the food being bland, thats your opinion I'm sure hundreds of other... More

It is frustrating that you sometimes have to wait outside the restaurant when it is busy and it isn't helped by the fact that so many people are using Groupon vouchers. All that aside, we are never disappointed with the quality of the food and the staff are always friendly, particularly the nice gentleman who always remembers our order, even... More

I went to the almighty cod last night with my family. Travelled from yorkshire to visit and on recommendations of them decided to go for tea. Once entering the building it was busy so waited to be seated, on that note we were greeted, if that's what you can call it by a waitress that shouted to us over a... More

The food was delicious but I had a wait of 40 minutes for the take away food. So start queueing way before you are hungry.

The fish and chips are very good this is probably why their is a que waiting out side , some reviews say they make you Waite out side , yes they do this is because it's quite small inside sits only a bout 20 -30 , if they let you Waite inside it would spoil the customers inside enjoying their...
