We visited the Palatine for tea for the first time since the new menu had been introduced. The pub was fairly quiet when we arrived which was surprising given that there had been Christmas events on in town in the afternoon. The new menu has still some of the old favourites including Hell's Chicken and the range of pizzas however... More

I absolutely always come here when I'm in the area. It is modern yet traditional, a difficult one to pull off successfully! The bar staff really know their products and how to serve them. Always some good local ales and others. An interesting variety of drinks and cocktails are offered. The food is divine! The menus vary so there is... More

Visited The Pallentine for lunch after a recommendation from a friend (we are not local to the area). It was quite quiet when we entered, but the staff were very welcoming and the menu was quite varied so we decided to give it a go. The food we were served was very nice, the braised beef was extremely tender and... More

After doing our research, decided on this place for our evening meal. Called the restaurant to see if we needed to book, was told they are fully booked but to come anyway as they may be able to squeeze us in. Arrived at 8pm, plenty of tables available, we were seated upstairs. Ordered the sharing starter, which came after a... More

Went here for my birthday so with the other half and a few friends - the service from start to finish was faultless & the food was even better! The seating was very organised and spacious even though there was another couple of parties in. The food came out quickly & at the same time aswell considering we all had... More

Had a most enjoyable dining experience in the ambient surroundings of the Palatine. My wife and I both had steaks one sirloin and one "flat iron", both of which were succulent and cooked to perfection as were the trimmings of rustic chips, salad and onion rings. All this was washed down with a bottle of Pinot, delicious. The service was... More

The Palatine was a regular place for us to visit, however, on the last 3 occasions the beer has not been good and there appeared to be a general disinterest that we were not satisfied. There are not many pubs where I leave beer but have had to on the last three visits. Will avoid in the future
