Great menu to choose from, we had the highland chicken and the vegetable lasagne. The food was delicious and plenty of eating in it! Atmosphere was nice and staff very friendly, Was nice to sit by the open fire.

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to a lovely meal, well I was so disappointed, there was 3 starters to choose from, soup, egg mayonnaise and prawn cocktail, the soup was mushroom so that was... On recommendation of the owner of the coffe house next to the church of holy rude, we decided to put a reservation ar portcullis. We were not dissapointed. An more of its money worth meal in an authentic setting with a friendly service. We can recommend this place! We ordered the steak and the haddack.

Came here on a visit to Stirling to see family. It was very busy on a Tuesday night - all tables were reserved. Glad I decided to book. I had the fish in breadcrumbs- something I really miss living away from Scotland. Delicious - came with chips, peas and a large salad. Too much for me though. Daughter had chicken... More

Cosy atmosphere in a small friendly pub right beside Stirling castle. Staff are fantastic and will go out of their way to be helpful. Food is traditional pub style but serves are huge. You will find cheaper bar meals elsewhere in Stirling, but this is well worth a try.

Had lunch with the family. Great selection on lunch menu, fast service and delicious food. Hadn't eaten here for a few years and very glad to see the service and quality hasn't changed.

Took my nephew and hid girlfriend here for a birthday treat. Was lovely. Real roaring fire, lovely interior, friendly staff. Felt right at home. The food was delicious. Well worth a visit. Booking beforehand is a must though if a Friday or weekend evening.

Once again we had a great meal, staff where excellent, food presentation was brilliant. The only problem is that you can't get in without a booking. But saying that it is worth the wait if you can't get in.
