We visited today for lunch. We had emailed beforehand to see if they allowed dogs. They did. So it was the two of us and two golden retrievers. You don't really pass this place - you drive to it. It is remote but worth the drive. We got a warm welcome and everyone was really friendly. The food was excellent.... More

We visited Glenisla Hotel after an energetic hill walk and were very ready to have something to eat and drink. We received a warm welcome from the owner Alan who marshalled his staff efficiently. Our group of 11 found the hotel really busy on a beautiful Saturday afternoon but despite this we were served quickly and in a friendly manner... More

Lovely place great atmosphere mainly created by the locals who are a great bunch of folk so friendly, lots going on for this small idilic place, great food and a good selection of alcohol. Well worth a visit even if just for coffee.

An off chance visit which will certainly repeated. Super bar lunch which was nicely cooked with a substantial portion. Just what you need if you've been on the hill or fishing all day. Friendly staff and a building which still has character. Long may it continue!!

I've cycled from Forfar twice now to the Glenisla hotel for lunchtime soup, its homemade & fantastic. You won't find any better. Great inn & friendly staff too. If you visit in winter the wood burning fire is lovely.

After this hotel being recommended to us for a meal, we decided to pay it a visit without a reservation which seemed to not pose an issue. The dining area is amongst a bar so it was quite busy when we visited. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Ultimate Glenisla Burger which was very tasty and left me... More

We had an overnight stay here at the weekend. Room 5 was above the bar, and the bar was busy with a private party until nearly 2am. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep. The room was quirky with a number of details making it appear unfinished which is a shame as they would be easy to rectify. The... More

My wide and I walked here as we were staying locally. The bar is dog friendly and the owner is knowledgeable about the beers. There were two real ales on, plus Innis and Gunn craft lager and then a few of the usual suspects. The bar has a collection of rums and whiskies. We ate lunch, starting with chilli topped... More

We arrived there after a hard days walk on the Cateran Trail and were treated very well. We were shown to our room straight away, had a shower and then went downstairs for some liquid refreshments and then a lovely meal. Our hosts couldn't do enough for us and we stayed for two nights. A packed lunch was given as... More
