This is an excellent restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly in greeting us and introducing the a la carte dinner menu. For starters we had prawn risotto and pan seared fois grad. Risotto can disappoint in some restaurants and become rather sticky and...More

Fontana in Holywood is a good restaurant in the centre of Holywood. Approached from High Street through an archway and upstairs, its high ceilings, unobtrusive lighting, many paintings, other art and friendly staff make a great initial impression. They now have an excellent and varied...More

Hadn't been in Fontana for a few years and decided to revisit. Fontana has so many positives - a wonderful ambience; friendly, helpful staff; excellent wine choices and although the dishes were perfectly edible they lacked the 'wow' factor that other equally expensive restaurants have....More

Had a very nice family meal, the restaurant was busy but service was good. Food was excellent, the mains and starters really good - perhaps the salmon could have had more sauce though. A few minor issues didn’t help - it took 3 attempts to...More

Went with colleagues for our Christmas lunch. At £25.50 for two courses we were all shocked at the small portion of Roast Turkey we were served. The cranberry chutney overwhelmed the dish. The desserts however were delicious. Unfortunately we all left feeling rather hungry. If...More

Once iridescent landmark has lost a little lustre. . . Having ascended the snug stairwell, you are rewarded at the summit with a warm and generous welcome from the friendly staff. The journey doesn’t quite end here and neither does the pleasant surprises. As you...More

Fontana never disappoints. One of the best in the Belfast area. Greeted by a friendly, professional team with a warm smile from the chefs in a great open kitchen, spotlessly clean. Diverse menu options with good portion sizes. Their set menu is hard to beat...More

If you are travelling to get to the restaurant it would be better booking. If you are walking past it would be worth calling in. I imagine it is busy at the weekends but could probably fit you in during the week.

If it's lunch you wouldn't usually need to book, for dinner at the weekend you would need to. It's a smart casual place, at lunch jeans would be fine, for dinner a little more effort, but missing a tie wouldn't be a... More
