We had our dinner here at the old john peel and really enjoyed it. Plenty of space for our 8 week old son in the pram. Food was quick and delicious really friendly staff :)

Went for tea with partner and 2 children. Found the pub lovely and welcoming and the staff were really friendly and great with the kids. The food was absolutely amazing and very reasonably prices. I would really recommend a visit :)

We ate here this afternoon. We were looking for a dog friendly pub & the place we'd called in previously was full, so we came here by default! Served quickly Portions were generous. I had scampi, chips & peas & my fiance has fish, chips & peas. The meals came to around £17. The 2 pints of Fosters were expensive... More

Never been back for years! Old stomping ground! Met up with some friends, changes have been made but some things remain. However, fantastic roaring real coal fire!! Just what you want on a wet Saturday night! Meals available, pub food and whilst we didn't eat others looked okay. Nice friendly atmosphere.

Had dinner on our first night in bowness here and compared to other places, it was quite disappointing. Food seemed to be served very quickly and looked as if it had just been warmed up. Nice enough but there are better places.

Called in a couple of times during our recent rainy stay. Greeted by a roaring log fire. Pleasant welcome. reasonably priced drinks and large portioned food. The kids meal we ordered would have filled a full grow adult. It's not gourmet cuisine, but it certainly filled you up. They did a nice mulled wine and cake for a good price... More

Stopped here for lunch whilst visiting Bowness. Nothing much to shout about from the outside, but nice and welcoming inside with an open fire. Usual pub menu, with sandwiches, baked potatoes and hot meals. I had the steak and ale pie with fresh veg whilst the others had baked potato. Nice food, reasonable price, considering the area, and served promptly.

I have never been to the John Peel but decided to call in at lunchtime. We had a tuna pasta bake and a stack burger. Really good hot homemade food. I'm not a fan of garnish or the sweetcorn in the bake but other than that the food was first class. Nice surroundings - would call again!
