Went here for supper after Appledore Book Festival. Pleasant calm atmosphere and very attentive service all made this a delightful evening. Tasty fish too! Portions generous so no room for puds.

Heading into Bideford on the first evening of our stay, the hotel recommended we try the Mariners. A very interesting place, with snippets of local historical facts and stories on the walls. The owners clearly love creating fine food, and we were treated to a...More

We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening with delicious food and great service. Our daughter is coeliac and she had lots of choice. Loved the local gin too... only wish we'd found this restaurant at the start of our break, we'd definitely have made another visit!

A very personal restaurant run by a friendly team and a chef / owner who is passionate about his food and his customers. We have been coming for many yrs. - not as regularly as John might like - but quality and service remain constant.

A great visit with amazing food, topped off with a very touching complementary glass of champagne when the staff picked up on our reason to celebrate that night. A great restaurant, heartily recommended

This restaurant is on the top of the list of restaurants recommended by Orchard Hill Hotel where we stayed. And deservedly so. It's a popular restaurant so booking is essential in high season. My partner and I shared a baked Brie with bread for starter....More

We will be closed on Thursday 9th, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Mariners (Formally Lathwells) is a Grade Two listed historic building in one of Bideford's oldest streets. The building dates back to the 1700's. History tells us it has been a Mariners house, an Inn, a sowing school, a private house and now a restaurant. Mariners is small, intimate and relaxing. The table is yours for the evening. Our food is cooked from fresh to order. We pride ourselves on seasonal fish and meat from the Bay Area as far as possible. Our menu changes often with specials featuring on a daily basis. We look forward to meeting you. Booking is strongly advisable to secure a table. We are open Wednesday - Saturday from 6.30pm. Last food orders are taken at 8.30pm.
