We visited The Hazelmere several years ago when visiting Grange and said we'd always go back if we returned. 3 years on, still as good, great service in a lovely cafe in a bustling area of the town. The Vanilla Slice and Strawberry tart did not disappoint. A great place to stop off for an indulgent treat, you will not... More

We always call in here when heading South from the Southern Lakes. Not just for the coffee, but also co collect lunch - freshly made sandwiches of your choice and a good selection of prepared meals in the freezer cupboard to take home.

If you are in the South Lakes seek out Grange-over-Sands and the Hazelmere Cafe. It's a cracking artisan cafe - think a seaside version of the famous Betty's in Harrrogate. It's got an impressive array of breads, teas, pastries and jams. I bought beetroot and apple bread, damson jam and one of their famous vanilla slices. And if you eat... More

We were really surprised to find such a lovely cafe in Grange Over Sands doing really good home produced and cooked food. Beautifully prepared and presented and considering they were so busy really quick. We also thought excellent value for money as well. Going back today for a Bee Sting cake it looks absolutely fantastic! The service was also excellent... More

went for a light lunch and ordered whitebait and ham hock. The whitebait was clearly from a commercial frozen packet - uniform, very orange breadcrumbed and very salty. Ham hock only average. Clearly a very popular place and one of Rick Stein's 'food heroes' for its bread and pastries. There was nothing heroic about our choices

Recently visited the Hazelmere again but found the food and more especially the service were not up to previous good standards. When a cafe is famous for its serving of tea, you would expect to have a small jug of hot water served alongside. We had too long a wait before anyone came to take our order, they weren't especially... More

We decided to avoid the traffic by having some tea and cake but most of the places were already closed by 16:30. We asked at The Hazelmere if we were allowed to take our dog in with us and we were not only welcomed but she was given treats and lots of fuss too. The ambience, furnishings and the very... More

What have they done to the historic cafe in Grange! This was iconic in Grange - the refurb has turned it into any generic cafe anywhere. Would Betty's in Harrogate have put in naff bench seating? The food is still OK - expensive - but there is a lot of good food in The Lakes. This place always had the... More

The Hazelmere in Grange over Sands has been owned by The Stubley family for 38 years. Dorothy, the proprietor has set the standards very high and only serves the best quality, locally sourced foods where possible. We have a beautiful Tea House where our meals are served and in the summer months we have the option of eating out on our front of house terrace. We also have a deli bakery on site where you can select delicious take away lunches for you to enjoy in the ornamental gardens across the road or you can eat in our take away courtyard. In the evenings from March up until November the Hazelmere turns into a very high class restaurant, booking is recommended as we do get very busy, exceptional meals produced by our very talented and experienced chefs.
Everything is made in house and our bakers make all the produce through the night so its as fresh as can possibly be when it goes on our counter. We continue to strive to bring to our customers the best products around and take great satisfaction from this. Our excellent teams of waiting on staff and shop and back of house staff ensure the smooth running of such a large business. We look forward to welcoming you to the Hazelmere !
