It's a short menu but I had a very good hot smoked salmon salad starter and halibut special for main which was excellent. And the veg and tatties were bang on too. Well trained and attentive service. There's the merest whiff of motorway service station...More

The Foveran, both a hotel and restaurant, is obviously focused around its F&B operation. Interesting menu of cheeses, seafood, and heavier fare, great views perched above the Scapa Flow, food presented well and served by a corps of young women in black. Breakfast for hotel...More

Great cocktail to start, food was outstanding, staff very friendly and helpful. We finished off tasting various types of whisky, the choice was really good. The whole experience was perfect, they have got it just right. We would highly recommend it and next time we...More

From the time we got to the restaurant it felt right. The ambience was comfortable and chilled, the staff were attentive and most importantly looked after us with a smile. The food was exquisite, both the fillet and the lamb were cooked to perfection. This...More

We dined here with friends whose hospitality we were enjoying. They had been before but for us it was a new experience. One which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was excellent and service very good.

Attractive, modern restaurant with fabulous views across Scapa Flow and the distant buoy marking HMS Royal Oak (torpedoed WW2). Staff very pleasant and efficient. Food tasty. Would have liked to have seen a more imaginative menu using local ingredients but enjoyed our meal.

Had a dinner here which was great. Food really good and generous (though medium steak was closer to well done...). Decor is plain which highlights great view of sea and fields. Staff friendly and attentive but not overbearing.

We dined here on Sunday night. The food was impressive and the main course generous in its size. Choose the lamb! The waiting staff were spot on - and one of them ran after us to give my husband back the glasses he'd left behind....More

If a weekend night preferred, probably a week/2 weeks in advance especially during the summer months. For a evening during the week, a few days in advance.

Description
At the Foveran, you can enjoy the finest Orkney produce in a relaxed and comfortable setting with stunning views across historic Scapa Flow.
Superb seafood features strongly on our menu along with prime beef and lamb. We work closely with local livestock farmers, fishermen and growers to select the best seasonal produce for our larder ensuring we obtain the highest quality. We strive to create dishes from the freshest, local ingredients. As well as supporting local producers, we are keen to retain Orkney's culinary traditions. We bake our own bread daily including 'bere bunno' or bannock (a traditional flat bread) using stone-ground beremeal flour from the Barony Mill.
We also offer a wide range of carefully selected wines, liqueurs, local ales and malts. These can be enjoyed at your table, or in the more relaxed setting of the lounge.
We're really proud to have been four times winner of the Orkney Food and Drink 'best evening meal' award and the first 'Orkney Masterchef 2014 title.
We look forward to offering you a memorable Orcadian experience.
