My wife and I and friends went out for a drive and found this little gem of a pub. Welcomed by the landlord wearing his Welsh rugby top with pride laughing and joking. He promptly served us with our drinks sat us and gave us menus. The menu though not extensive had a varied and local choices on it. My... More

my wife and I visited the penny farthing over Christmas and new year only to find it closed over this busy time. we returned for lunch in the new year and found it to be very quiet, no friendly welcome at the bar until a lady showed my wife and I the menu 10 minutes after we entered the public... We went to the Penny Farthing for Sunday lunch and were very impressed. The pub itself had a great atmosphere with a warm, country yet contemporary feel. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was amazing!! Excellent quality, freshly prepared using local produce and very tasty. The portions were good and the food was served piping hot and... More

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but I was let down. The restaurant and bar were very quiet which should have been a warning sign. The atmosphere was awful, all staff need some sort of customer service training. Waitress was very cold and slow, and it wasn't like there were hundreds of people there! Very disappointing, food wasn't great... More

My friends are I were staying in a cottage in Ross on wye. The penny farthing was the closet pub, very cosy, lit fire and friendly service. The food was very average, a few of us ordered the charcuterie board. The olive bowl consisted of more oil than olives and the meat wasn't the best quality. Would visit again but... More

Have been here twice now. First time for lunch, not good but dinner menu looked interesting. So went last night on an impulse. Not again. There were not very many people there which is always a bad sign Where we sat was cold and we could not get comfortable. The soup had no flavour. The gravy did not come out... More

Outstanding! The food was delicious, the surroundings and ambiance lovely, and the staff are friendly and attentive - what more could you ask? I chose the cider braised pork and can thoroughly recommend this dish. Booked to return before we left.

We found that the pub had been refurbished and new owners had moved in.Years ago we used to visit regularly but the pub changed hands and was not up to the standards we were used to., Paul and his family have done a wonderful job offering great food and service to a very high standard and we look forward to... We are located in the beautiful small village of Aston Crews, offering a freshly cooked seasonal menu filled with local ingredients. The Penny has some exceptional views of the Black Mountains and the Malvern hills from the beer garden (with children's play area).

We aim to showcase the exceptional local produce and serve local ales and spirits as well as keeping as much of ingredients as local as possible. We also have a large selection of whisky from all over the world.
