Visited here some years back with my late father and the place was buzzing and the food excellent - I seem to remember we had to book. Took my daughter whilst staying in the area this weekend on the off chance. Sadly shocked by the decline. Certainly no need to book now - place was almost empty - and by... More

Ten of us booked and visited this pub . The girl at the bar was very welcoming but told us the chef was away!! We chose from a limited menu, service was good but the chips were over cooked and in old oil I suspect. Scampi soggy. Afraid I for one won't be back.

Visits in the past for evening dinners have been great. We've had really good traditional pub food, particularly dishes with game. Today we popped in for a quiet lunch. There were only 2 other diners. We waited a long time for food that was only just average. Disappointing, maybe service & meals are a better standard when the place is... More

Good pub grub in a good atmosphere. I can recommend the burger - absolutely delicious. Tucked out of the way - but if you're on your way to Brentor or out for a walk - then I its well worth a visit. And the history of why its is called the Copper Penny is interesting - and the owner has... More

We walked from Woodovis Camping Park (about 15 mins) for Sunday lunch. There was a good choice of traditional Sunday roast, or other main courses. I enjoyed roast lamb, which was served with roasted vegetables, plus an additional dish of vegetables. There was a tempting selection of sweets, my golden syrup sponge with custard was just right. My wife wrapped... More

My husband's meal was reasonable, but my Hunters chicken was terrible! The chicken was very thin, impossible to cut, stringy and hard. After leaving it and complaint to the waitress, we at least expected some refund. We were charged full price and no apology from the chef!

Whilst staying a the nearby Woodovis holiday park my husband and I enjoyed a hearty bar meal at the Copper Penny. The portions were a good size, service pleasant and quick and the food quality was good. I would eat here again

On holiday locally. Second time been here and each time impressed. First ordered Mushroom Stroganoff with rice. Lovely, a good portion and really tasty. Tonight ordered Salmon with Prawns. Again a good portion and tasty. This came with salad and new potatoes. Scrummy. My husband, first time the Beef Stroganoff & rice and this time Lambs liver with peas and... More
