Popped in for lunch with my dog while staying in the area.. welcomed as soon as I came in, had a lovely fishermans platter - the chowder was beautifully done. The garden is pleasant and I didn't find the loos to be unclean at all? The staff and locals were all friendly so would love to return when next in... More

A really enjoyable watering hole at the halfway mark on a walk from Redbrook to Tintern Abbey via Offa's dyke and the Devil's Pulpit. Good bitter and quality soft drinks for those who are into that.

Stayed in a cottage nearby and the pub was recommended. Very disappointing, old, dirty, run down, toilets worryingly unhygienic, thank goodness we only had a sandwich (which was ok) and a coke (that didn't even taste like coke). Outside seating was in a run down court yard next to the toilets. Owners very friendly though and helpful with walking ideas.... More

This is one of the top two pubs we've visited here in the UK, the other being the Old Town Inn in St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly. Staff and locals were both warm and welcoming. Food was very good: I had the broccoli and blue cheese soup, while my partner had the salmon filet.

Well! what a reception from the staff, the food and beer were excellent, great value for money, the mixed cheese plough mans was great and everyone made a special effort to thank the kitchen staff. Good wholesome grub, great portions. Well worth a visit.

This was one village pub which is definitely on my First, Only and Last ever time I would ever visit a country pub. Pubs like these are notorious for giving out two set of prices for customers: locals and tourists. How they get away with it is despicable, but get away with it they do..and this one seems to be... We were on holiday and thought we'd pop in for a drink. No lager left except bottles, my husband had a bottle of "Budweiser" (it def wasn't) and was v nearly out of date - only 1 day left. Such a shame as it could be quite a quirky place but I wouldn't recommend it. Dirty, uncared for and only... More

This is immediately by the Wye River and is popular with walkers. It is just minutes from Tintern and a little longer to Monmouth. I used to live in the village and the owners are charming people very helpful. It is a pity that the pub is up for sale in that the owners own a house in France and... More

During a week's holiday in the Wye Valley, we ate at the Brockweir Inn three times! I'm vegan, so it's not always easy to find something tasty and interesting to eat when I'm out, but the Brockweir Inn usually have something on the menu and are always happy to prepare something specially, given a little notice. The food is good... More
