Early February weekend away, staying locally, was recommended the Grapes for meal on the Friday, perfect choice. So booked again for the Sunday. First class food and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, great service. We only wanted a main course as we are on a diet and watching the calories but this was not a problem and the food was absolutely delicious. Only wish we could have had a starter and a desert! Great beer. Will be back and will recommend it to our own customers.

The pub/restaurant opens at 6pm, so there we were. A look at the comprehensive gin board with prices between £9 and £10 convinced my wife she was drinking wine. Ok so that's a 50ml shot with tonic, but London prices. 3 hand pulled beers gave me a reasonable choice, but bottled soda only causes our friend to settle for a... More

not cheap but a great meal and the staff could not do enough to make you feel welcome. The Irish girl behind the bar and the waitress were second to none, so friendly.

The staff, atmosphere and food were great, I had the duck to start and the venison for main which was delicious however I though it was quite overpriced as the starters were around £8 but mine was mostly lettuce with just a little bit of duck.

Superficially warm and inviting. Attracted by the fire, we asked to be seated in the bar and this was accommodated quickly. Whilst happily waiting for the table to be set, we stood at the bar for drinks. The owner was obviously busy dispensing drinks for other diners with no real acknowledgement or greeting towards our presence. After being seated, we... More

I was shocked when reading your review that you were less than satisfied at the welcome and the lack of customer service you obviously were expecting when visiting The Grapes in December… I am bemused as to what you were expecting. You made very personal remarks about the person you assumed to be the "Owner" that was clearly from reading... More

The Grapes is excellent for food in a nice cosy atmosphere. The waitress service was first class but the bar staff very miserable. (Long haired blonde) When one leaves a healthy tip you expect at least a "thank you" but, alas, nothing! Such a shame, because we would certainly go there again but will try some of the other restaurants... More

Thank you for your review, I am so glad you enjoyed your experience at The Grapes.. the excellent food, cosy atmosphere and first-class waitress service that is until you came to pay your bill… I am very sorry you did not get the response you obviously were expecting when leaving a "healthy tip" as you put it !!! and called... I invited some friends from Scarborough to dine with me at the Grapes in early November. Both they and I had been here before the new owners took over and it wasn’t a good experience. How it has changed. Friendly, competent and attentive (though not intrusive) staff. A very comfortable and cosy pub. Great food, with an excellent choice on... More

We ate here with friends one evening last week. The pub had a friendly and cosy atmosphere. The food was exceptionally good and the service was attentive and helpful. I had belly pork which was delicious with crunchy crackling; my husband had venison pie from the specials menu which again was delicious. Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.
