We didnt know where to eat on way home from salisbury. We stopped at sidmouth and saw this pub. there wasnt many tables left but a very friendly bar man took us downstairs to a table. We ordered the roast beef and as my wife cannt eat red meats asked if there was anything else, was ordered chicken but would... More

My partner and I visited Sidmouth recently and came upon the Anchor whilst wandering around the town. We both had a drink from the friendly barman and, seeing some of the plates of food being brought out, decided to eat. I can honestly say we had the best crab sandwiches we had ever eaten, they came out with thick chunks... More

We chose the Anchor after reading other reviews and were not disappointed. The staff were first class, as was the service and the food. We had a drink on arrival whilst waiting for our friends and the barman couldn't have been more friendly. The service and the food were faultless, from ordering to being served to the table was less... More

An early evening gathering with family, including juniors amounted to a total of 14 of us. We had booked, to ensure the children would be acceptable during the evening, it was a pre Christmas/Birthday celebration and it works well in this pub. They always have a good mulled wine around Christmas time, which is a warm apperative before eating, very... More

Popped in last week for a spot of lunch and was very welcomed by the staff and a good selection of beers too. Food choice was good and the soup we had was lush with nice warm rolls too. Nice atmosphere inside too.

Warm friendly atmosphere, food is very good freshly cooked and value for money. Central to the town and local shops, a good place to put your feet up and relax.

Stopped here for an evening meal & was pleasantly surprised. Excellent range of food at sensible prices Very pleasant staff Nice well kept beers Just a minutes walk from the seafront Well impressed. I recommend the pate as a starter & the beef & ale pie as a main choice.

Good location in Sidmouth's main shopping street, providing excellent value food, served with a smile! We chose a "special" lunch of lamb casserole that arrived filled with lamb, vegetables and dumplings, and was cooked to perfection and very tasty. We washed down the food with a shandy, and this revitalised us for further shopping on a cold and bitter day.... More

Yes please! A recent addition to our Sidmouth eating experience- we have been visiting this charming town for many years. Unfortunately the Anchor is not dog friendly and we won't leave our dog in the car ever. On the positive though, having visited without said pooch we have been really impressed with the quality of food and the friendliness of... More
