A regular haunt for Friday lunch with my little dog. The staff are so friendly and even get to know your name. Food is fab .. good hearty freshly cooked. The fire is always lit on colder days. It attracts people who appreciate its atmosphere. It's not modern .. it's old and atmospheric ! Just perfect x

Cold winter night and the welcome was warm as well as the fire. Good selection of food, nothing fancy just food solid pub grub. Definitely worth a visit as the ales are good as well.

I am lucky to live only two miles away in Kimpton. This is the most authentic old English pub in the area. Winter magnificent fire. Summer lovely garden. Real ale. Food cooked from scratch not microwaved. I have brought many work guests here from Germany and they love it!

Stopped here on Sunday just after opening on a beautiful October day, no tables set out in the rear garden. The bar was full, one barrel had run out, which meant they was only one member of staff who could serve. The tables in the front garden, which need a coat of paint ,had not been cleared, ashtrays full of... More

We stayed here for two nights at the end of Sept 2016 and were impressed both by the friendly staff and the lovely accommodation. We had room 5, just across from the main pub. It was fresh and clean, with plenty of towels and shampoo products, and some nice little touches, like towel sculptures and little sweets on the bed.... More

Although we haven't been here for some time, we have eaten a few lunches and dinners over the last five years. We have taken visiting friends and family (South African) here, as it has a great pub and lunch offering.... We like the steak and ale pie.... It's near the very picturesque Brockett Hall, which one can enjoy an energising... More

I've known this lovely pub for many years, it was somewhere that served excellent beer and with a well chosen menu. The pub seems to be under new management now and while still serving good beer the menu has become burgerised!. Horribly disappointed to say I'll avoid this gem of a pub from now on.

We might not be talking Michelin stars here, but the rather hairy drive to find it was fully justified. The lanes around there might be narrow, but believe your SatNav. We were four friends having lunch after a trip to Knebworth House. The food was light and tasty served in lovely old surroundings that harked back to less polished times.... More
