This pub has a 'fine dining' restaurant included within it, yet retains the feeling of an old-fashioned country pub - the kind of place I always hope to find in rural areas. It is now run by a French couple. If you want to try out their culinary skills, book a place in the restaurant section. We ate in one... More

You'd think Hertfordshire would have a good selection of decent pubs with food but the quality has recently diminished. We went to the Waggoners not having been for some time and the place deserves to be better frequented. The food was lovely, frogs legs, bisque, veal chop and more. Sat in the kinda shabby garden where we were happily served... More

Nice for a drink but the menu in the bar is very limited. The food is disappointing and needed to send the chips back as they were cold.

Stopped for lunch on a walk. Pretentious menu that was expensive for bar meals. Ordered croque madam but got croque Monsieur (after a very long wait). Food was vile. Quantity over quality. French cuisine???? Hardly!!!!!

After a fabulous Sunday lunch 12 months ago (see my previous review) I persuaded my family to take me back on Saturday night, raving to them how good it was. Booked a table for 5 at 7.30 and had a drink in the bar first. This set the scene for what was to follow. Our order of 2 pints of... More

We were spending a Saturday morning in the local area so I looked for somewhere to book for lunch in advance and found this place on lunch . Easy to reserve online and we had the experience of an English pub where I could have a pint of beer combined with a French Brasserie type menu in the restaurant. Perfect.... More

Its a pub trying to be French ! The food is ruined by the cook , overcooked and weird flavours. No bread on the table, the wine was placed on a ledge 15ft away, no one served us, had to get the bottle myself. Louts in the bar smoking e fags and the bill ? over £200 for a dinner... More

A Thursday evening meal with friend, the Waggoners was an unqualified success. The service was welcoming and professional, and I liked the fact that as there weren’t that many people dining that evening, you can still feel cosy as just one of the rooms was open. We had the full three courses from the a la carte, including frogs legs,... More

We visited here on Sunday 26th Feb. There were 9 of us including 3 children. It was a Sunday set menu with a good choices on each course. Staff were welcoming and very attentive but not overbearing. Lovely building and beautiful surroundings. Can't wait to come back and visit to have the taster menu! We had a separate dining room... More
