Breakfast very good with wide choice for breakfast and nicely cooked English breakfast. Poached eggs particularly well done. I ordered Sea Bass but was not crispy skin and was served with a curried sauce but the broccoli had not been drained and the water from h broccoli oozed out and watered down the sauce. Carrots over cooked but other veg... More

Travelled through spectacular scenery to find this very welcoming hostelry just below the border, Colin and his team are a very pleasant bunch and made our visit most acceptable. Good food, good beer and comfortable surroundings all add to the atmosphere and clean tidy rooms to relax in rounded the trip off nicely.

Interesting menu with well cooked food and lots of it! My husband had sea bass with curried celeriac (delicious) and I had slow cooked lamb shoulder (wonderful).

We've actually stayed here two or three times. It's not actually far from the M6/M74 and makes a nice stop. The building and bar are wonderful so long as you like old and quirky (we do!) The owner is very friendly and helpful and the pub food is good. Nothing else needed!

Booked here for three nights on a deal and it was fantastic value for money. Having said that, I would have been happy to pay the normal price as we had a lovely time. The owner, Colin, met us on arrival and although the bar didn't open until 6pm, he offered us drinks if we wanted them. We decided to... More

Well off the beaten track, yet close to Hadrian's wall and not to far from the M6, this unpretentious inn is cosy, friendly and has very good food. Traditional British dishes stand alongside some delicious Latin American menu options. I had a series of conversations with friendly locals at the bar and the relaxed landlord. For me it was an... We chose this place as a stop-over to break up a long journey. We had a lovely warm and comfortable room, an excellent meal in the restaurant and enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and locals in the bar.
