Pretty underwhelmed this time, mainly due to poor service, the staff seemed to be constantly waiting on the kitchen to produce food which they seemed unable to keep up with demand. The food was overpriced when compared with local Italian restaurants and some dishes looked like they had been queuing in an oven for hours.

This was the worst place I have ever eaten service was full stop never mind slow. Started giving other people drinks before they had finished ours. Then said they had run out of glasses not even taken our order. Took 1 hour before we got starter. Then ran out of chips. Pizzas came burnt and half with no topping on.... More

They shouldn't be called pizza express when you wait over an hour for a garlic bread starter!! Staff take orders and never deliver the actual orders. Not to mention running out of chips of all things, might aswell run out of pizza. Will not be back

We booked pizza express for a family birthday meal. We have been previously and really enjoyed the food. After this visit we will not be returning. The good was average, nothing outstanding. The menu choices were limited. We had vouchers but because of a technical fault (not our fault) they were not all accepted. The worst part of the night... More

I've always liked Pizza Express in the past, but the Carlisle one seems to have gone downhill in the last few years. I've been 3 times in the last 4 months or so and each visit has been poor. The first time was with a large group (around 15) and service wasn't too bad, but it was slow - we... More

Friends had told us Pizza Express was good, but it wasn't really. We were there because two of our party wanted gluten free pizza and their food was ok. The wheat based pizzas were disappointing, base too tough and mean with the cheese. Service very slow: ok, the place was full but shouldn't they be able to turn out pizzas... More

Ok it was a busy Saturday night We were shown to our table (after booking online), given our menus. The waitress then walked off before we could order any drinks. 15 minutes late we were still sat there so had to ask for our order to be taken. The drinks came out pretty quick as did the starters. They cleared... More

Restaurant very busy on a Saturday evening. Need more staff, other people had walked out due to lack of service. We were in a rush due to catching a train! Food was good, restaurant is clean.

I always enjoy the food at pizza express.....when we eventually get it. It was very busy when we first arrived last night, granted, but it's never any better when it's dead. We ordered drinks, starters and a child's meal (so he could get started on his), then ordered the mains when she brought the drinks. As is usually the case... More
