Smallish restaurant so booking is advisable. Staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Great food, good choices, clean warm and friendly atmosphere

Had an early breakfast here in the cosy upper lounge area with comfortable seating and a warm fire. Staff were friendly and efficient and full of fun. A very pleasant start to the day in a very atmospheric pub. Food was freshly cooked and the napkins were cloth! Lincolnshire sausage was such a change from the usual plastic pork. Will... More

I chose The Crown when I looked for a venue for a family get together for my step daughters'' irthday. I was delighted to be offered the upstairs private dining room for our party of 15. From the moment we arrived the service was fantastic, the waitresses were polite and attentive. The food that we had pre ordered was superb!... More

Popped in looking for something to eat at lunchtime. Not convinced by the menu but thought we would give it a try. The pub/hotel has been refurbished and was very welcoming and the staff were superb. The main course of roasted roots and game suet pie was brilliant. We should have stopped there because that was more than enough to... More

An antiques hunting trip to Stamford left us hungry for lunch. We stumbled across the crown hotel which looked very inviting. Had a fabulous steak sandwich & glass of reasonably priced wine each. Really nice quality food, well presented. Espresso was excellent too! Will definately be back next time we visit Stamford

Evening meal out (group of 14) for friends birthday They catered for us at short notice due to being let down elsewhere. The prices are a bit above average, but when you see the well presented food arrive, they are well justified! The portions are extremely generous and the food is tasty!!!

Whilst having a short break in this pretty town, we decided to try The Crown for dinner. Service was friendly and helpful. Food well presented and absolutely delicious. But we both struggled to finish our main course of Slow Cooked Beef with Horseradish Mash. (and we hadn't had a starter!). Portion size was immense! We would, however, recommend this restaurant.

We ordered a light hunch with friends and experienced a wait of over an hour. The food was ok but the portion control police were in action.

Again i will reply to you review with the same response as your email to us directly and review on our hotel page..... The one very quick comment to be added is you are the first person ever to comment about how small our portions are - normally it is quite the opposite, i am not sure who this says... More

The good points -Filet steal was gorgeous Bad Points -We were placed on a table and the other side of us was the bar area. There was a smelly dog that kept facing us breathing it's stinking breath over to us throughout. Why have a table so close to the bar area when we're eating food? I booked in advance... More

Thank you for your review - we have looked into this in some detail to enable us to respond. Unfortunately the dog in question had made himself comfortable under the shelf area that faces directly on to your table. We are very sorry for this but am sure if you had spoken to a member of staff they would have... More
