Colonialen is a nice place; excellent service, superb food and matching wine. Lamb as main dish after a wonderful crayfish and lobster salat, and chocolate ganach for dessert. Jam, jam :-)

Knowledgeable and fun staff, making the dinner an even bigger experience. Of course fantastic food, with unique tastes. Some dishes better than others, but all artistic in their own sense. High prices for sure, but once in a while you can splurge.

I so want this restaurant to succeed but it needs to go back to basics. The first time I visited this restaurant it was amazing. What was so amazing? The taste of the food. I still cannot fault the presentation of the food or the outstanding knowledge of the people who serve it. However, I find the food to be... More

Food is excellent - wines selections to follow are perfect - and good to learn that employees have good knowledge and are very well trained. Nothing but perfect. Did Michelin miss this opportunity while in Bergen?

I thought l had had a feel of some of the best restaurants in town but this one is completely different. the atmosphere was just embracing. The welcome from the employees was grand. And as for the food the least talked about it the better. It cant be described. You just need to experience it to get the feel and... More

This was our favourite dinner during our visit to Bergen. The food was full of local tastes, adventurous and produced from a kitchen that is definitely on form. The service was formal but friendly and especially helpful in recommending wines. Highly recommended.

The food tasty but little in portion! Service average ! The environment a bit fussy for my taste ! I chose the trout and was delicious!

I entered in casual clothes with a 14month old; neither intimidated the staff. They sat us in a quiet room during a quiet seating. My daughter explored every room, including half the kitchen; to the chagrin of only me. The front of the staff support the back and vice versa. Wine was paired perfectly. Cuisine was interesting and fierce. We... More

Innovative, yet with a subtle balance of traditional and local food. We had the taste menu and although it's expensive, esp. if you include wine, you will not regret, nor forget, the visit to Colonialen.

We had the 6-pack dinner with a flight of wines and both were spot-on and marvelous. A tiny cube of ham was the best ham I have ever tasted, the bisque-like crab soup was better than anything in Fells Point and lamb was perfect. Attentive but unobtrusive wait staff and the chef entertained some dumb questions (no, the lamb was... More
