The portions of the small dishes are a lot smaller than we imagined. But yet we loved them. A must try is the Fish Stew. The service was extremely quick and the staff was very friendly. The interiors are absolutely amazing. We loved the pictorial illustration of the Stockfish trade. This 300+-year-old place is definitely a must visit while you... More

Now THIS was an old, quaint, merchant building, with 400-year-old beams and listing floors and minimal décor. We had lunch here, a fish soup that I would call chowder and a herring sandwich with apple and lettuce on great bread - accompanied by an excellent Hansa pilsner beer. What a lovely way to experience "old" Bergen. It was not crowded... More

This is an old structure, now a restaurant. We had a group dinner with a set of choices but everything was excellent. Service seemed a bit slow but that just gave us more time to relax. Ask staff to tell you the history of the building.

The food here was excellent, there's a 'tapas' menu so you can try a number of Norwegian foods and also an a la carte menu to choose from. The combination of flavours worked really well on everything we tried and the reindeer fillet was amazing. We went on a Wednesday evening and didn't have a reservation but managed to get... More

My husband and I had several tapas, delicious bread with spreads, potato salad, local vegetables, sausages, desserts, along with local beer. Beer was cold and good. Service was a bit slow but all in all was an enjoyable meal.

We came to a restaurant around 7PM and they first told us that there are no tables and tried to put us in the bar area, where it was freezing and reeked of beer. We turned around and were about to leave, and suddenly there was a table for us, out of nowhere! The atmosphere was very charming and pleasant,... More

Had dinner there, the food was good while pricy but service was poor, slow, without a smile and the atmosphere was depressing, boring in a cold and dark room. There are way better places in Bergen for this price.

Jet lagged and ready to sleep, we forced ourselves to stay awake and dragged ourselves reluctantly to dinner. Well, what a great unexpected treat we had at Bryggen Tracteursted. The hotel got us a last mite reservation at this popular eatery in the old port. The restaurant space is beautiful and charming and authentic in an historic building. The greeting... More

Had the reindeer and the crispy salmon. Both dishes were very good. Our issue was the service. Once we finished the main course we never saw our server again. Empty plates set off to the side were never picked up (we left and they were still there). The tables around us had plates cleared and were offered desert menus. We... More

Description
Bryggen - the Wharf in Bergen - is known worldwide as one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, the centre of historical Bergen and a must for any visitor to Bergen. In the middle of Bryggen you will find Bryggen Tracteursted - renovated and reopened - with respect for its historical surroundings and with an ambition to restore its reputation as one of Bergen's top quality restaurants. Bryggen Tracteursted consists of "Schotstuen" - the Assembly Room, the Firehouse - representing the kitchen and in the back the Stable and the Hayloft. Svensgårdens Schotstue - anno 1708 - is a listed building and the only one left in its original location. The word Schotstue comes from "skytningsstova" the place where you shared your food with others.. At Bryggen Tracteursted you will find a modern kitchen inspired by local Bergen and Hanseatic cooking.
