We have been going to this restaurant since they opened, best indian food in Oslo. Rich flavors, good menu. Recommending the butter chicken and a good mango lassi to it. They have a nice restaurant and take-away. Always friendly people there. Highly recommended.

Mother India opened around 1993, I believe. It was excellent then, maintained a high standard over the decades and never disappointed this time, some 24 years after my first visit. Always nice to go back to a restaurant, after many years and have the owner...More

A few years ago the facade looked a little shabby but I once gave it a shot and never regretted it! :) (they revamped it 2-3 years ago and it gives a better impression from the outside). I have been going to Mother India for...More

Such good reviews, but unfortunately didn't meet my expectations. The food was ok, but nothing special, at least the dish I had. The rice could be more interesting. The meet was surprisingly tasteless. Service was ok, but they never came to ask if we needed...More

Just want to know how could anyone try to compare a little Indian restaurant in Norway with anything on the 'Curry Mile' or in London. Pointless reference, better to compare with other Indian restaurants in Norway. Indian (Bangladeshi) food is practically the national dish of the UK, things are slightly different in Norway.

Mother India compares favourably with the very best in London.
Hello, I would like to know whether this restaurant is pure veg and does it have Jain food?

Mother India is Norway’s oldest Indian restaurant. Run by the Sharma family the restaurant opened its door in 1993, and has been with the same family in the same location ever since. We are proud of this, but also humble to our guests' expectations of us.We regard ourselves as cultural ambassadors of India through the food we serve. Hence, as our guest you are not a customer but part of our family. We constantly source our ingredients from different suppliers, searching for the very best. That is why we also blend our own spice mixtures. This gives our food a unique flavor, and the recipes are a well kept secret.
