I tried spareribs at many many different places in Vienna and Estanzia has the best ones I tried. On a sunny day the garden is wonderful and relaxing. The bad part is that the prices are rather high - both for drinks as well as the food. The interior is lackluster and the service can vary from ok-ish to slow.

This mexican restaurant is located in a calm area in the park next to Prater. If you need some time in the quiet, away from all the noise and crowd in amusement park, this is your place. It has a big garden with not many tables, so you can enjoy your privacy. The menu consists of typical mexican food and... More

Salad greasy and warm, using the cheapest vinegar. We were sitting outside. The indoors smelled of food gone bad (we went in to use the restroom). The rest was tasty but with too much cheese. Once we were done a big lump of cheese was left on our plates with all the salad. And we love veggies :(

I live close to this restaurant, so I eat here quite often. I like the food and the atmosphere, especially in the summer, when you can sit outside. However, they have recently changed the prices in the menu and now most dishes are a bit too expensive. For example a vegetarian quesadilla costs now (2015) 13,90€ (while at the most... More

How can a restaurant charge for a tap water? it's not like we didn't order anything else. Tap water is free in all other local restaurants we've been to in Vienna so what's the deal Estancia Santa Cruz? :D

We were a large group and, whilst some of us got a little lost on the way there, meaning others had almost finished by the time we arrived, this proved to be a great choice in the Prater Gardens. Unlike the majority, I actually ordered tapas and it was very good! The staff all appear to be Spanish (-speaking, at... More

Huge Mexican-style place next to Praterallee with most of the tables designed for big groups. Over the years we have learnt to order the Tabla de Fiesta every time and with three or four hungry people we have never managed to finish it – very meaty, crisp chicken wings, quesadillas with cheese and ham, pork skewers, Spanish omelette, two types... This was most probably my least favorite Mexican meal in a long long time. I had tacos, that had beef in it, but it tasted like nothing (maybe beans). The sauces were also nothing special, a chilly one even faaaaar too salty. Overall a disappointment. On top the house beer is a Czech one?!?! I love Czech beer, but it... More

As we landed in Vienna, after taking a long walk through the amusement park, we ended up in Santa Cruz after being referred to it by someone from the hotel we were staying in. I would say the Mexican food here is below average. Imagine a preserved salsa dip served with ready-to-eat tasting quesadillas and poor service. I would say... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
