Service was okay, but the kaffee was, well, so-so and a bit pricey compared to other places we tried.

We had a breakfast there. Food was really good (two different breakfast plates with Middle Eastern specialitis, mainly humus, falafel, bread - all fresh and very tasty), BUT we waited for almost an hour! for breakfast! when restaurant was almost empty! Another low point is poor design and generally not very cosy atmosphere.

I had dinner there and, to avoid bad surprises, I had the daily menu, which is supposed to be fresh. The soup was ok but the main dish was really disgusting: it looked like it had been re-heated a dozen times and the full plate was clearly just microwaved, the (bio-)lentils were tasteless, the lamb wurst and the potatoes old... The food in Nils is a really good mix of different Middle Eastern dishes. Also, there is a lot of vegetarian options available. It is more a cafe/student type place and one if those places where you go when you want more of a snack than a main meal. I regularly go here with friends and we order a few... More

Staying in Neubau

Neighbourhood Profile
Neubau
Vienna’s art district, Neubau buzzes with galleries, arts and crafts, trendy restaurants, avant-garde shops, and cafés. Neubau’s Spittelberg quarter with cobblestoned Spittelberggasse and Gutenberggasse make for a perfect stroll alongside Biedermeier houses and art shops. Don’t miss the historic courtyard at Amerlinghaus with its typical Pawlatschen galleries, a perfect hangout on a warm summer evening. Museumsquartier is Neubau’s undisputed highlight: the former Imperial stables house various top museums of 19th to 21st century art. If you love interiors, head for the Imperial Furniture museum (Hofmobiliendepot), one of the world’s largest furniture collections. Find your favorites among a dazzling array of Baroque, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Modernist chairs, sofas, cupboards, coat hangers, foot stools and wash basins. No weekend visit would be complete without stopping by a local café on a weekend morning for brunch.
