We travelled from UK to dine at Steirereck. As I am a chef myself, i had extremely high expectations but the restaurant just couldnt do any better. The meal was amazing, not just the food but everything around it as well. Staff really professional and friendly, they did know everything about the food. The best night we could have immagined.... We spent a long leisurely Monday afternoon here and felt that everything was as it should be in a two Michelin star restaurant. We chose the 5 course lunch menu as we were determined to try the char in beeswax which is not part of the tasting menu. It was definitely the right choice. Every course was superb including the... Steirereck is the only two-star restaurant in Vienna, and it looked promising when we arrived. The location is good, and both the interior and exterior is very nice. We had the tasting meny, and there were several dishes that looked very exiting. A couple of them were very good, but unfortunately, at least half of them were quite disappointing. This... More

We went to this famous place for lunch and were more than happy with the choice. Would be too much to digest for a dinner meal but for lunch it's just perfect. Good size portions, very creative service. We didn't go for a full tasting menu but just chose a couple of dishes from the menu. My char and pumpkin... More

Delicious, presentation, creativity, imagination. All words I use to describe the indescribably amazing experience at this restaurant. We chose the a la carte menu but there was no problem with substituting from the prix fixe (tasting) menu. The food was incredible. Fresh, creative, tasty, beautifully presented, real and satisfying. If you can plan ahead and make a reservation there, do... More

While you can discuss about taste, the spiced sauces were too much. No problem if they are served with the food, but most times they food was drenched in these sauces and so you had no way around I also missed the fantastic fitting aroma explosions of the last year, this time the taste was too "wild". But as I... More

If I were writing this review strictly on the a la carte Char my husband ordered, I would have given this restaurant six stars as that dish was the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, I chose the 7-course option and wound up being sorely disappointed with 4 of the 7 courses. The meal started off wonderfully with an incredible variety... More

I lived in Vienna for more than 10 yearas, and must have lunched at Steirereck no fewer than 12 times. Every visit was truly a special occasion. Delicious breads, exquisite food, impeccable service. .

We travelled to Vienna after seeing this restaurant on the top ten restaurants in the world. The venue is very special when you arrive, being in the middle of a park. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was superb. The bread selection of what seemed around 50 choices was amazing, and the food was full... More

Definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever experienced. Innovative but still classical, fancy but still elegant, making all the dishes a show but still unbelievably tasty. Let me give you an example - fish boiled in bee wax. Wow. The bread cart would make a great evening itself. Try the black pudding kind... And so on. Two Michelin... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
