We went there for some traditional Viennese dishes.. As I have never had Tafelspitz before, this was a very interesting experience for me especially the atmosphere. We ordered one Tafelspitz each (couldn't win the diversity argument this time!) and thoroughly enjoyed it, however they are quite generous with salt. The portions were big (for us) and two sides to share... More

Have been with my family for lunch during the week and as always we chose the boiled veal which is the traditional Austrian Tafelspitz. it is absolutely delicious, first the soup , then the veal with spinach and horseradish and roasted potatoes. The restaurant is a perfect example for Austrian hospitality and high level of cuisine.

The food was out of this world, the service was great, beer was cold and wet so a good meal, short walk back to hotel so was great evening out. The Tafelspitz was something I had never tried before but will now try again, but would be hard to improve on what I had in plachutta, if yiy are in... More

This is a large but very busy restaurant with reservations required at most times. It's popular with local businesses entertaining clients, and families celebrating special occasions. The main offering is the traditional Viennese Tafelspitz, boiled beef in a broth with accoutrements, but there are other meat and fish dishes, and good desserts and wines. Service is brisk (they want the... More

This is a really top notch restaurant at which you can try a number of classic and authentic Austrian dishes. The Tafelspitz was out of this world, the Austrian wine extremely good. The service in fairness is a little pompous and the insistence on charging you for bread you may have no intention of eating seems a little petty but... More

Wonderful dinner at this central Vienna restaurant. We had the taflespitz which came highly recommended and I can see why. No need for a starter or room for a desert! Waiters were friendly.

Our group were treated to authentic Austrian cuisine at this restaurant popular with the locals. Some of us had the traditional Tafelspitz which was really flavoursome. Other meat and fish dishes were also on the menu equally tasty enjoyed by other members of our group. The wines and beers were also good. The service was very attentive, perhaps too much... More

We had a really good meal here but didn't have the tafelspitz speciality as we weren't too keen on bone marrow . That said, we saw others eating it and it did look good and seemed to go down very well. My Husband had steak which he said was absolutely delicious and I had pike which I have never tried... More

Hubby and I made a reservation at this busy and lively restaurant and arrived early, hoping to get a seat....no luck! However, the wait was worth it. We dined here on the recommendation of our tour guide, who suggested that Tafelspitz is a "must try" when dining in Vienna. We ordered the Tafelspitz for two. It arrived in a copper... More

we visited plachutta in wollzeile as we were told that it is an Austrian eating institution. we had not booked but received a table immediately. we settled down zwiebelrostbraten and tafelspitz, the food was in both cases excellent until half way through our meal a gentleman next to us started to smoke. you should know that smoking in restaurants is... Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
