Fast service and tasty food. Very generous portions; we couldn't finish all our food, but they put the leftovers in a box for us. They give you a free shot of ouzo with your meal.

I visit this restaurant regularly and the stuff there always are extremely friendly, attentive and nice. The food and the atmosphere are also very good. I recommend this nice restaurant in the summer they have a nice garden.

The title says it all. Whether it was genuine - whatever that is - greek food I cannot say. Highly satisfied. One point deducted for still allowing smoking (!). It was not a huge bother in the non-smoking section.

Apollon is nice and spacious Greek restaurant, little bit outside the city center. It is pretty busy during evening, but still could accommodate group of ten people without any problem. Food is typical Greek and pretty decent. Staff is friendly, and service is pretty fast. Anyway, if travel brings you to that part of town, this is good place to... More

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The "Greek" food is not really Greek: starter salad contained tasteless vegetables with some mayonnaise dressing, rather than olive oil, as you'd expect in a real Greek salad. Meat dishes were more "Austrian-style" than Greek: mostly made with pork (which is not common in Greek Cuisine) and didn't taste like the real thing. We've tried... More

We ate here on our first night. It was a nice experience. The food was good and the staff were nice. Did have a little communication troubles but nothing to bad. would go back again if in the area.

We were looking for a restaurant near to the Senator hotel and found that the one recommended was closed that evening. The Apollon was nearby and it turned out to be a real find. I had the Artemis meal and my husband the Apollo, although we couldn't discover how they differed. English isn't really spoken and some at least of... More

Apollon is in a great location and the service was excellent. My son loved their bisteca and my daughter, the vegetarian platter. I had the souvlaki which I felt was a little bland. My only criticism was that the place takes credit card but the machine was down that day. I felt that the waiter should have said something at... More

What we liked was the very good traditional Greek food, reasonable prices, really good service (the staff were efficient and attentive, without being intrusive) and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. When we were there they played traditional Greek music which we also like. It is also good for those who are really hungry... the meals were big!

Staying in Ottakring

Neighbourhood Profile
The production site of popular Ottakringer beer brews up an exciting mix of working and middle class suburbs, Balkanese immigrant lifestyles, and lush patches of hilly woodland. The recently gentrified area around Yppenplatz and Brunnenmarkt boasts hip cafés and bars next to South East European delicacies at Brunnenmarkt street market. The dynamics of Ottakring become most apparent at its vibrant high street Ottakringer Strasse. At the top end you can feast on wine and local food in Austria’s oldest wine tavern 10er Marie. The wines are from the tavern’s own urban vineyards. Before you head upwards, make sure you pay a visit to the historic courtyards between Lerchenfelder Gürtel and Hippgasse. When locals visit Ottakring’s hilly green outskirts on the weekends they either climb up 31 meters of Jubiläumswarte viewing tower on Gallitzinberg, have a succulent Wiener Schnitzel at Villa Aurora, or reward their hiking exertions around Wilhelminenberg with a drink and a view from Wilhelminenberg Palace (now a hotel and restaurant).
