Went here on recommendation a Saturday evening without reservation and still got a table! I was amazed about the quality of the gluten-free pizza, it tasted like a remember that pizza tasted before I stopped eating gluten. I would travel to Vienna just to have this pizza, don't miss this!

We dropped by on a Sunday evening with no reservation..the place was full, all tables had a "reserviert" tag but the waitress kindly offered us a table that was reserved for later (+/- 1 hour), .. and so we had a nice dinner of basic but tasteful italian food (minestrone, crostini, pasta alla siciliana, saltimbocca).. during dinner the waitress informed... We arrived without a reservation - our fault, we know - but the reception we got from two members of staff was so rude we would never return. Shame, because we wanted to, and would have made a reservation for the following day if we hadn't been so poorly spoken to. Cannot recommend because of such nasty service.

A friend took us here while we were visiting Vienna. Seriously some of the best italian food we have ever had. There were 8 people in our party. We ordered 3 pizzas: Hawaii, Margherita, Torino (gluten Free). All were amazing! We also had Penne Arabbiata which was delicious but my favorite was the Spaghetti ai Gambere which I highly recommend.... More

This is a friendly welcoming place with a small but cozy outside courtyard in the back if you are lucky enough to visit on a mild day. The service is outstanding…..friendly, helpful and efficient. The dishes are superb. The pasta dishes are perfectly prepared and the pizza is second to none. As a major bonus, they actually have exquisitely prepared... More

My wife and I went to Pizzeria Scarabocchio on a weekday, attracted by the sheer amount of people sitting and chatting amiably at its tables. We were impressed by the restaurant’s warmth ambiance. Service was quick and very friendly. My wife had risotto and I had a folded pizza, the so-called “calzone”. The risotto was quite nice but the pizza... More

Hidden away behind the Rathaus, this smallish pizzeria has the feeling of being invited to a Southern family meal. Bordeaux seats and basket-lamps complement the smell of freshly-baked pizzas coming out of the corner oven. Also offer gluten-free dough options.

This little restaurant is cozy place for dinner. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about gluten free options. The menu is HUGE! They not only have a ton of gluten free pizza and pasta options, the food is amazing! I've had a lot of gf pizza and it was definitely one of the best I've had!!

My daughter and I are both gluten intolerant so I did some research for where to go to dinner. Scarabocchios had some great reviews so we decided to try it. The pizza was the best I have ever had, the crust was very thin and perfectly chewy. For dessert we had the Tiramisu, it was so delicious, but make sure... More

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
