We went to Vienna in early December to visit the Christmas markets. I am coeliac and found Pizzeria Scarabocchio listed on a blog as gluten free friendly and I'm so glad we did. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent and the staff were all very friendly making time to chat. They made ordering gluten free incredibly easy and... More

We had gluten free pasta and pizza and it was great but I don't recommend for people with celiac disease. My girlfriend had really strong reaction to gluten free pizza.

We visited the restaurant the Monday before Christmas after reading good reviews. The staff informed us that they had a table available for one hour but that was all. We ordered a main course, which was served very promptly and very good, however we were not offered a dessert. We were given the bill and after 45 minutes were told... More

I enjoyed 3 nights in this little restaurant. I use to eat gluten free and I found a great selection of pizza and pasta. Very friendly staff. Emanuele

What a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is true italian, you can see the pizzas being made and the staff are so friendly. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. At the end of our meal we showed the owner a picture of a bottle of italian liqueur that we had brought in Italy to see if he had... More

We decided to try this place and the hosts found a table although fully booked as long as we were quick. We just had a Pizza each and drink, quickly served, freshly cooked and very nice. Good value, friendly staff and nice setting.

Went here on recommendation a Saturday evening without reservation and still got a table! I was amazed about the quality of the gluten-free pizza, it tasted like a remember that pizza tasted before I stopped eating gluten. I would travel to Vienna just to have this pizza, don't miss this!

We dropped by on a Sunday evening with no reservation..the place was full, all tables had a "reserviert" tag but the waitress kindly offered us a table that was reserved for later (+/- 1 hour), .. and so we had a nice dinner of basic but tasteful italian food (minestrone, crostini, pasta alla siciliana, saltimbocca).. during dinner the waitress informed... Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
