If you want an authentic austrian cafe experience this is the place for you.The place has an old world charm and laid back atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff who speak in English and greet you with a smile. Excellent food. The asparagus soup and Scnitzel were top notch. Went for a sort of Bellini which was delicious: a glass of sekt with a frozen lollipop of peach puree, delicious. Then stayed for a plte of asparagus for a light lunch. Fresh and ok, but on the expensive side.

The Café Museum on Karlsplaz is near enough to the main shopping street and attractions but preserves the sense of being a local café. We called in for lunch and found that many local shoppers had done the same. Food was traditional but good and the service quick.

Besides the historical arhmosphere, the apfelstrudel is truly delicious. Coffee is very good as well. Having a apfelstrudel with coffee where Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and other important historic characters cane, is incredible.

This historic coffee house was round the corner from our hotel so we popped in daily becoming temporary regulars. The staff are lovely and spoke excellent English. Hot meals, cakes, coffees, hot chocolates, alcohol all served till the early hours. You seat youself and stay as long as you like. A very laid back approach that works perfectly. There is... More

Dropped in for lunch at this recommended in the guide book cafe. Typical Viennese decor and ambience. Gentleman sitting next to us had been there for a time when we arrived as coffee already drunk but still there when we left reading papers Glorious selection of cakes in a very tempting display. We had earmarked our chosen cake but unfortunately... More

Description
Café Museum has been a location frequented by many geniuses of the 20th century.Since its inauguration in 1899 it has been a meeting point for painters, writers, composers and architects. Mid 2010 the Café Museum was taken over by Berndt and Irmgard Querfeld. The importance of a high level comfort is something the Querfeld family have always been very aware of and therefore they have decided to restore the original Zotti design back to its original glory.

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
