Service was amazing - the waiter was very polite, court, and attentive. Live piano music could be heard from a nearby showroom. Apfelstrudel was quite decent though not amazing.

Legend has it that this cake was made for Emperor Franz Josef. And only in this café you can taste a real Imperial Torte and buy it with you. Although, in my opinion, here, a lot of other delicious pastries.

Went for light dinner. Had salads and soup and of course dessert and coffee. 50€ including tip. Small room across restaurant too. I am told most prestigious hotel in town, but did hot in lobby, Japanese, french and American couples on a late Monday nite.

It may be expensive but the ambience is lovely and the service impeccable. Like a previous reviewer, I was dressed casually in jeans and shirt but treated with the utmost respect. The cakes and coffee were top notch. A pleasant respite from the tourist track.

We decided to come here for coffee and dessert after a long day of sightseeing. We chose this Café instead of Sacher because their signature Torte, (according to many reviews), seemed to be more flavourful. Now, after tasting both, I agree with those reviews. It was not as busy as Café Sacher, thus peaceful, comfortable and relaxing. Even though we... More

We went twice, first day for lunch, the service was really good and the cakes really nice - especially the Apfelstrudel. The second day, we went for dinner, the service was ok, very slow though. The food is good.

We were having lunch in the Cafe waiting for our room to be readied. Both of us had a salad with jumbo shrimp - delicious. We were dining at about 2:00 or so and the telephone at the desk in the cafe was ringing almost non-stop -- such an irritation/disruption. It is simply too loud and we were seated in... More

We decided to avoid the hype of the Sacher Hotel and have morning tea here instead, and we were not disappointed. The Mozart Torte was amazing, so tasty and moist. Hot Chocolates were presented beautifully. Service a little slow, but we were fine with that as it gave us a chance to just soak in the atmosphere of the city... More

I was recommend to go to Café Imperial and to forget about the buzz around Sacher. Since I'm a foodie, I decided to try them all. Service: beyond expectations, exactly like a high hand place can be. I don't understand the reviews that complain about the service. Since I was there along, I had the luxe to observe everything. Every... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
