This cafe was too famous, and most of people there were tourists. The internal environment was classic and cozy, but the coffee was nothing special but over-priced. We can find other place in Vienna with better food/beverage easily and more reasonable prices.

After seeing the concert in Hofburg Kappelle, we decided to have brunch at Café Central and it was just perfect ! We did not have any reservation and had to wait for 15 minutes in the qeue but that was fine.

Worth queing at the door - the restaurant is a must for a good taste of traditional cuisine. It doesn't feel crowded though it accomodates a great number of visitors. The original interiors are well maintained, the staff are efficient. A piece of advise - though you can eat hot food and salads, do try some of their mouth-eatering desserts... More

Beautiful classic decor and fantastic cakes make this a must do when visiting Vienna. We had good friendly service and enjoyed all the dishes which included goulash soup and beetroot risotto in addition to the warm strudel and cooked cheesecake. Lovely surroundings to enjoy a breather from the sightseeing and markets.

Came across the cafe central by accident. We joined the short queue and were seated within 10 minutes which was great being 6 of us. We enjoyed a light lunch of soup and roll followed by delicious deserts. A real treat and can highly recommend.

This restaurant was a delight. On a crisp winters evening we were able to sit outside under a patio heater with cosy blankets provided. Lovely food and polite, attentive staff. We visited twice on our holiday and no doubt will be back on our next visit to Vienna

I spent half an hour on my mobile phone deleting apps/ photos just to make room for thr TripAdvisor app so I can write this review. This is how affected I was by the service I received here. While the doorman was very nice, my husband and I decided to have a coffee at Café Central as part of our... More

This must be on all hit lists of Vienna and although not an overwhelming experience well worth the 4 minutes we waited to be seated! Only came for coffee and pastries, but a lot of people having full meals that looked appetising and appeared to be enjoyed by all. Service was fast and efficient, the coffee was good but the... This famous traditional café with its 130 year history was first opened in 1876 and at the turn of the 20th century it was a popular meeting point for leading lights in the world of art, literature, politics and science such as Arthur Schnitzler, Sigmund Freud, Peter Altenberg and Leo Trotzki. Then, like today, the legendary literature café was a meeting point for all ages, regular guests, Viennese locals and visitors. Unique architecture combined with the best coffee specialities, classic Viennese cuisine and finest home-made pastries make every visit a special experience. Daily Live Piano Music from 5pm on! Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
