Arrived at 1pm on a Wednesday in November. No queue to get in and had a lovely seat, close to 2 other single female diners!!! Ordered the goose ravioli and a glass of white wine which was very pleasant.

Cafe Central has a good reputation, and it stands up to it. The indoors decoration is marvellous but that's something common in Vienna. There is almost always a line at the door from customers waiting to sit. Don't expect any spacious tables since its always...More

The place has an incredible history and is in a striking building. Yes, the pastries are excellent but over priced and the food only rates a 'pretty good' but it's an experience to dine there. Read about it's history before you go.

Terrific atmosphere and fine service. Love the architecture and interior. Statue of one of the cafe favourite customers in the entrance. Apparently, Stalin, Trotsky, Hitler, Freud, Lenin all dined at Cafe Central: history fails to reveal whether they met at the cafe. Great coffee too...More

Visited here before noon on a Sunday and was fortunate enough to be seated immediately. Really cool place to have your Viennese coffee and pastry and soak up the ambience, almost as if you're in the year 1913.

Very popular. We queued for around 20 minutes - but it was worth it. A lovely doorman greeted us and we took in the beautiful building. Very elegant and plainly looking. We had coffee and a dessert. We went for the traditional apple strudel which...More

This famous traditional café with its 130 year history was first opened in 1876 and at the turn of the 20th century it was a popular meeting point for leading lights in the world of art, literature, politics and science such as Arthur Schnitzler, Sigmund Freud, Peter Altenberg and Leo Trotzki. Then, like today, the legendary literature café was a meeting point for all ages, regular guests, Viennese locals and visitors. Unique architecture combined with the best coffee specialities, classic Viennese cuisine and finest home-made pastries make every visit a special experience. Daily Live Piano Music from 5pm on! Reservations are strongly recommended to avoid waiting time - upon availability. Many thanks in advance for your understanding!
