I could not eat here very night, the cuisine is quite heavy, but very very good and the atmosphere is really so typical of Vienna... I definitely recommend this place if you want to dive in the old Vienna atmosphere. The quality of the meat is really high and the home made wine very good as well, the apple strudel... More

The food and service was superb. Can just image how lovely it will be in Summertime. The wine was lovely and the atmosphere perfect to relax and chat to friends.

This restaurant is clearly a great place to enjoy a summer evening, but it was also great for us in October. It was pumpkin (Kürbis) season and the menu featured pumpkin in every form, from soup, to quiche, to pumpkin encrusted pork medallions, to desert. We enjoyed the excellent new wine from the restaurant's own production. The service was pleasant... More

Nice Heuriger Garten with its own white wine from the neighbouring vineyards. Service was average; the waiter forgot to bring our wine order; food is overpriced.

Our intended restaurant was fully booked and so we ended up here — where the number of empty tables was perhaps a warning. The waitress failed to smile or say any words of welcome to our group (ten very well behaved British and Greek businesspeople). We had to ask for enough glasses to be brought for both wine and water.... More

If you love the music of Beethoven it is something to just see the steps that lead to the room where the 9th symphony was composed - tis another thing to eat a delicious chanterelle mushroom goulasche at a table at the foot of the stairwell. Our waiter had suggestions for local wines that did not disappoint and our dinner... More

Vienna is not known for friendly waiters, but this place is a pleasant exception. Relaxed atmosphere, great food, solid wine -- this heuriger is hard to beat. The pumpkin ravioli was one of the best things I've eaten in Vienna, and everyone else in my party was happy with their food, too.

The food was pretty good. I was disappointed to see that the food from the buffet needed to be microwaved; but I guess hot plates/tables aren't everywhere. The house-made cured meats are good. Had a very good rose (bought two bottles afterward). Thought the bottles of wine would've been cheaper. The glasses of wine were pretty well-priced. It was easy... More

Found this gem while looking for another winery. They have many Chanterelle mushroom specialty foods. My husband had the soup and I had the risotto. This food was exquisite, delicious and beautifully presented. The service was excellent. We also enjoyed their wine flight. We are trying to fit in another visit before we leave Vienna. Also, this is a historical... More

Description
The tradition-steeped "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" winery, the epitome of Viennese Heuriger culture, has been producing the best Viennese wines since 1683 in Heiligenstadt. In 1817, Ludwig van Beethoven lived in the romantic listed suburban home on Pfarrplatz. During his time in Heiligenstadt he worked on his greatest creation: Symphony No. 9.

Homemade spreads and sweet dishes, plus traditional Heuriger cuisine handed down through generations, coupled with new seasonal culinary delicacies, such as Mayer’s asparagus cordon bleu or onion roast made with organic beef, delight our guests and have also earned our "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" Heuriger AMA gastro accreditation.

The cosy premises; our sunny terrace under grape vines and walnut trees; and our original Viennese Heuriger music (every day from 7pm) make the "Mayer am Pfarrplatz" a truly unique experience. We have our own children's play area for our younger guests. Our snugs are ideal for celebrations with between 10 and 450 guests. We are very happy to give you an tailored quote, whether you want to celebrate a graduation, wedding or birthday.

Staying in Dobling

Neighbourhood Profile
Dobling
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
