It's very sad that such a place with its tradition performs such a poor outcome! The service was very slow, not attentive and the food, the food ... The meat was the disaster so tough, uncooked. Overall it felt cheap and disappointing!

Our private guide recommended the "3 hatchets". We stopped by around 5:30 and were told it was fully booked, but if we finished by 7pm we could eat, which we did. It was the real traditional Austrian fare that we were looking for, all the specialties you will read about were on offer. Two of our group were vegetarians and... More

We just happened to be strolling by when hunger hit us. We sat outside on a nice sunny day and the food and atmosphere brought us back to sit inside one rainy day. Helpful waiter suggestions led to large portions of super food. Liver dumpling soup, goose liver, roast pork, sausages, sauerkraut, dumplings, all the regulars were there in abundance,... More

I was there with some Austrian friends. Its a very nice place, bringing you 100 years back in time, with authentic food you will not find very often... The service is also very very good. Mostly tourists but also a couple of Viennese sitting around. BUT and yes thats a big BUT! the food is unfortunately not as it should... More

Here you feel as if you are in a small country inn. There are no big rooms here, rather you are seated in small enclaves where you feel as if you are in your own dining room surrounded by wooden furnishings and wainscoted walls. Austrian cuisine reigns here. The Liver Dumpling Soup especially stands out as does the roast pork... More

my family and I ended up to this restaurant by mistake. All places were already book and so the drei Hacken. However, the waiter (a friendly old guy with white hair) found a table for us. The table was reserved but he let us seat anyway. The place is very quiet and relaxing, so you can enjoy the food without... More

Interesting place, good wine and beer options! Many food options, but we did our order and wait for +45 minutes (our waiter had went home....). After this, other waiter bring us our order in a few minutes! We receive great food in our plates! And they offer beer and grappa for free to us! Our final note? The place is... More

Great restaurant if you want to meet Austrians who are enjoying there pension (we had a lovely time with the three grandma's). The interior, menu and waiters are all blend and could use some salt, peper and love. Yes we had an oke meal plus a good time, but I rather spend my money in a different way next time,... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
