Prety solid food in Austrian style in city center. Wiener schnitzel is vell done and big like a newspaper. Cost about 20€.

There is no lack of good restaurants in Vienna. The building was originally built in the 1540's and the first restaurant opened over 200 years ago. It was regularly visited by the Composer Schubert. This is probably reason enough to visit already. The food is very good. If you enjoy raw beef tartare (13.50€) then you should try it here.... More

Looking for regional Austrian food with some specials such as lung, kidneys or calf brain? Then this is your place. They also have more mainstream dishes. Good selection of beer and wine.

We chose a traditional Gasthaus for the final meal of our 4 day Vienna stay. This is the Gasthaus zu den 3 Hacken, not the "Magazine" nearby. It's a cozy and charming gasthaus that boasts of being one of the oldest in Vienna in its menu. We came for an early dinner and were seated in the room beyond and... More

Well if you look for really traditional place with Austrian cousine which does not play any high cousine tricks but serves very nice traditional meals in a very cosy environment plus it is close to Stephans Dom and you still can meet there Austrian people and not only tourists, please stop looking, this is the place! Enjoy.

This pub is apparently very popular and favoured by locals. Meaning the food is great, beer excellent. We were seated by the main entrance. Unfortunately, we could clearly observe how ignorant and racist the staff is. Although the pub was "fully booked", the staff could always find some room for locals. English speaking Caucasians (my wife and I) were tolerated... More

A traditional Viennese "Beiz" in the best tradition. The rooms are vaulted and the restaurant is connected with a wine dealer next door, which explains the very extensive wine list. The roasted goose was excellent as was the St Laurent wine recommended by our waiter. The lady manager was friendly but not intrusive. Locals like this place so you must... More

It's very sad that such a place with its tradition performs such a poor outcome! The service was very slow, not attentive and the food, the food ... The meat was the disaster so tough, uncooked. Overall it felt cheap and disappointing!

Our private guide recommended the "3 hatchets". We stopped by around 5:30 and were told it was fully booked, but if we finished by 7pm we could eat, which we did. It was the real traditional Austrian fare that we were looking for, all the specialties you will read about were on offer. Two of our group were vegetarians and... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
