We looked for a place open after 22:30 and bumped into this place. It was full of local people which is a good sign. The non-smoking area is isolated from the smoking zone of the bar. The service was ultra friendly, the food was simple but very good. Highly recommended for unpretentious night out.

OMG forget the expensive not worth it Imperial Cafe... this place had the Original Wienerschnitzel and great beer all at a very reasonable price. Not expensive at all! Local hangout and just great food! Has a non smoking area separated from the bar area.

I can definitely recommend this place for a lunch menu: beware though, it gets pretty packed. the quality is good and the personnel is friendly and the prices are ok.

Big portions of different traditional food (with meat or for vegetarians). Good prices. Friendly waiters. Must visit in Vienna!

Zum Bettelstudent had the feeling of a local spot, homey and friendly, and an amazing service. Our waiter was incredibly nice and helpful despite being almost alone for the whole restaurant. The schnitzel was the best we've had in Vienna!

Was looking for somewhere to eat national Austrian meals and this one grabbed my attention. Fortunately enough the staff was very friendly and helpful. Gabi was especially cool ;) They also serve their own beer.

A walk in dinner off the cuff and my wife and I received excellent burgers cooked to perfection downed with local Austrian biers and we were able to put aside the fact that, you were required to walk through the street level retro disco and smoking section to the non-smoking restaurant table upstairs!

This is a place to get away from the overpriced tourist traps. Large range of quality beers from 3.20 for half litre stein. If you want to try classic dishes - crispy boned chicken, beef goulash gravy unmissable even if variable quality meat-simply presesented this is a real gem. Side salad excellent and chips should not be missed. Bar downstairs... More

Called in here for drinks just wandering around central Vienna. It's classic, you walk through the smoking area to get to the non-smoking area. Just watch those waiters go! Difficult to imagine frenzied service like this in the UK. Food looked excellent and we would be happy to eat here. It's quirky, set on three different levels and of course,... More

We went there on Friday night. There is a bar and a restaurant. At the bar there were lots of people, dancing music from the 70s and the 80s. The food is good.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
