We chose this restaurant because it was so close to the Hotel Austria where we were staying. It was busy and service was a bit haphazard (they forgot our drinks order and it took 15 minutes for them to take our food order). Nevertheless the...More

Second time to visit one of the oldest restaurants in Vienna - well worth the visit! Traditional Viennese food, excellent service, upmarket prices, but worth every cent - spoil yourself!!

This is the oldest restaurant in town, and the building really deserves a stop. Food was very good and lovely service.

An excellent restaurant. A very wide choice of the a la Carte menu. Service was very good. I had Goulash and kaiserschmarren which I would recommend. Price is average. I would recommend reservation as restaurant is always busy.

Wow! The food was absolutely amazing and although there weren't too many vegetarian choices for me, I had dumplings with 3 Austrian stuffing with lavender butter that were out of this world. The ambience itself was wonderful. No wonder we had to wait for about...More

I came here on my first evening in Vienna looking for a table for one. They said the restaurant was full, but when I asked how long the wait was escorted me to a table in an otherwise empty room. The waiter was overly flirtatious...More

We stubbled across this historic restaurant and what a gem it is. Wooden panelled rooms, a man playing an Accordion, white linen tables, excellent food and attentive service. They also have a lovely outside area. Recommend the prawns and also the salmon.

Nice quiet location, Viennese cuisine since 1447. Excellent smoked salmon starter with wasabi guacamole and bread. The Prices were very high.

Old University Quarter
North of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Vienna suddenly
turns small, winding and medieval, opening up to
legendary places such as the Basilisk sculpture at
Schönlaterngasse, as well as glamorous baroque
façades, courtyards and churches. Take 45 minutes for
a casual stroll through Bäckerstrasse,
Sonnenfelsgasse, Köllnerhofgasse, Grashofgasse, and
Schönlaterngasse. This quarter is packed with stories

Good day, yes normally we have live music in the zither room every night. In unfortunate cases the zither player might be sick. It is always better to make a reservation. To secure a place near the zither player... More
