We were part of a large tour group. Went into the ce?let for a fantastic charcuterie plater with fine bread and local wine. Our tour had arranged for local two man group to come and play old traditional music. Food and entertainment was great but wait staff was less than friendly. Seemed like we were a big bother to them.... More

Our group had a fun time at this restaurant. There was an outside patio deck overlooking the Danube but we went to the cellar for drinks, appetizers and accordion music. We all sang along to some good old beer drinking songs. A great time was had by all!!

Lovely setting for an afternoon coffee. Can't beat the view of the vineyard and the Danube just behind it. We didn't try the food, but it did look good. The coffee was very small, and the wait staff took quite awhile to come over and take our order, and then quite awhile to come back for the bill. We got... More

What jumps out at klosterkeller is the Big-screen telly with sky sports! Means I only miss matches I deliberately want to miss. The Managers, Jorg and Uwe are efficient and friendly. Jorg speaks very fluent English and seems very well-traveled so foreigners will not feel unwelcome and can discuss any topic with him. The garden area is cozy and just... More

Superb location, nice view, scenery, the food is a bit modified to suit the international package tours, so not so much austrian as you would expect, but the strum wine and cheese was excellent and as I said, the scenery is one of the best in the entire region

We ended up at this very nice place by chance: we were refused to have an afternoon break in another restaurant. Nevertheless, it turned out that this rustic restaurant offers an excellent atmosphere and great food. Not easy to find, just keep on searching. It's on Google maps, if you zoom into the area.

We visited this restaurant with a large group while part of a Back Roads Bike Trip in Durnstein. A large table was reserved for our group and our preordered dinner consisted of many courses of local cuisine. The fish course was my favorite, and I was surprised when that was not the entree! We drank a lot of local Wachau... More

We were only in town for a day and decided to eat here for dinner. They have a lovely outdoor seating area. For the chilly evenings, don't forget to grab a fleece blanket by the entry to use on the outdoor picnic tables. Food and drinks were very reasonably priced. Wait staff is slower than in the U.S. and Canada,... More

We escaped from our ship moored on the Danube and decided to eat out in a typical Austrian restaurant. The Klosterkeller is set in a vineyard and only serves wine no beer.We sat upstairs but outside with views across the vineyard. The night we visited there was a barbecue so we all ordered steaks although of course pork ribs etc were also... Our guides on a Backroads trip recommended this place and it delivered. The dumpling filled with meat were incredible, especially the sauerkraut with bacon that came with them. We also LOVED the platter of meats, cheese and spreads, though I'd suggest ordering for a smaller number than your total party (it's per person and the amount for 5 of us... More
